  1. hi all, found this site last night and after browsing through it i really liked it,thankfully ive been allowed to post, firstly, a little about myself, ive been carp fishing for the past 18 years, and i live just north of london england in the famous lea valley, here we have a lot of carp lakes, with carp up to around 50lbs all english fish,iv'e fished in france many many times where a good friend of mine owns 2 lakes, also canada once in 1999,on the trent near peterborough, iv'e had some real big carp up to 65lbs, and love to help other anglers in anyway i can,so please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any qusetions,i will do my best to help, i guess you could say that my speciality is rigs and tatics/tackle, whats hot and whats not! anyway guys..hello and thanks

Welcome to the site, and I hope you have some fun. Our lakes are generally a little larger than the ones you fish.

  2. Man I've seen that before but it always gets my blood pumping. Great video!

What are the smaller fish that you can see?

I definitely saw some Tench and a couple of Bream as well, but no Roach. That looks like a spot I used to fish on The Main River near Kitzingen Germany, many years ago.

  3. crap!

now it seems to be a bit of trouble for the lady, so we might not end up in ND in the end.

looks like we're more likely to end up in moscow ID, Brookings SD, Laramie WY or Las Cruces NM..

some of these places might suite my fishing a bit more so why complain^^

but thanks for all useful information about ND

Well, if you end up in Brookings we will need to hook up and fish together for sure!! That is just 40 miles from me, and I know the lakes in this area pretty well. Both of the Dakotas actually are quite abundant with carp, but I think Eastern South Dakota probably has more shallow, fertile lakes that the bigger carp prefer. Both states also have some really huge pike, along with tons of walleye and perch. It would be nice if you end up in Brookings, as I am always looking for a new carp fishing buddy. Besides which, North and South Dakota, along with Minnesota, have very large Swedish populations, so you you should fit in just fine!! I also have friends out in Wyoming that could show you some good spots out there, if that's where you end up. Good luck in your move!

  4. Great job! FJR1(frank rink) caught a fish this last winter from the chicago river with a tag like the fish your son caught! Did you take down the info and call to see why it was tagged?

No Carpbowl, but I did talk to the fisheries guy a couple years ago that tagged them. He said they were going to tag 1,500 carp from all of the area lakes for a tracking and telemetry study. We caught another one that day with a tag also, but it was only 15 pounds. The tag on it was all covered in algae and discolored.

  5. Well, I think I finally turned my boy Nick into a carper. I got him to buy his fishing license Saturday, and he met me down at Lake Herman in the afternoon. I caught an 18 pounder, a 20 pounder and a 17 pounder while waiting for him. When he arrived we proceeded to catch a whole slew more of them, including a couple of 15's, another 18, another 17, a couple of 16's, a 14 and a 13, and Nick's new personal best at 21 pounds 4 ounces. I am including pics of Nick's 18, 21 and my 20. I think he was really surprised at how hard they fought!! He might just be hooked!! You can see the fish tag on Nick's 18 pounder. Thanks
