hi all that are going....have a great time and haul! must say my bro and i have enjoyed this event immensely previous years. my highlight last time was that lunatic barman tripling everyones drinks then getting sacked and having a fight! my god there were a few drunk carpers around! hope those thirtys from last year have grown on a bit. maybe town lake is on its next cycle and could very soon be better than ever?
I remember that guy!! Didn't you and I watch him get fired right before we went to our rooms for the night, Andy?LOL

Those are some impressive fish for sure!! Now that's what I call a real BASS!!!!! If I lived near the east coast I would definitely be a Striper chaser!!!!

Hey Gary, nice mess of Canucks there, and that is one monster Snow goose!! I have the same motto about shooting Pheasants, but I say "Shoot em in the face". They are much easier to find that way too, and you don't have to worry about losing a wounded bird!! Nice looking dog you got there. I'll bet you and Big Chessie would love to come out here and blast some pheasants some day. We have a ton of waterfowl out here too, in the Central fly zone. There is just something awesome about shotgunning!!!!

A couple of awesome fish there Bri!! Maybe you will hook into one of those 90+ pound blues next year too. I want to see that photo!!

That's a beautiful Perch, I love how they look when they get over the 2 pound mark!!

The South Dakota reference here - is it sight fishing? It's close enough to me to merit a look. Need to see the fish though.
Yeah, you can see them alright, they roll and tail constantly, especially on Lake Thompson. You might not be able to cast to one just sitting there very easlliy, but just put the fly where they are tailing and rooting around, and you will get some takes.

About the only thing I'd argue with you is the thought that Michigan does not have carp the size found in other parts of the country.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
I have to agree with Nightwing, I think the Great Lakes have the potential to hold the biggest carp in North America. If you want to have a blast, and catch tons of fish from the teens to the low thirties, and have absolutely no competition, come on out to South Dakota, and fish the 'Little Carp on the Prairie' with me!!

Gotta love those feisty browns!! Nice looking 'bow too.

Way to go Justin!! It looks like you caught some brutes!! Was this on the trusty old Mon river, by chance?
-
Some nice looking tigers there. Does the lake you are fishing ever put out any 50" muskies?

Thanks Scotty, too bad about the Patriots!! Anyways, I got a late start Sunday morning, maybe 1 too many screwdrivers Saturday night!!LOL I got to my swim and all set up about 9:45 a.m. I didn't have my first run until 10:33, and it wa a teener. Then I lost 3 screaming runs in a row, and changed out rigs for suspected dull hooks. Then I missed another good run, and figured out that maybe I was setting the hook too hard, and just pulling right out of the fish. So I tamed the hookset down, and promptl caught 7 more fish until about 1:00 p.m., when I finally decided that I should go home and root on my failing Vikings!! The biggest fish I caught was this 24 pounder.

Thanks again everyone, I'm off to see if they have moved onto the 50 pounds of chum this morning!!!
-
Thanks everyone, it sure was good to wet a line again!!!

I have not had much of a chance to get out fishing this summer, with my job keeping me hopping all over the place, but I managed to sneak out to my old swim on Lake Herman this morning. I brought two 5 gallon pails of soaked cracked corn with me and set-up and began chumming my swim at 8:00 a.m. I kind of figured that it would take awhile to bring the carp in, since I have not been to this spot in over a couple of months, and the carp would have to get used to me again. I sat there for 2 hours without a bite, and then precisely at 10:00 a.m. I got a screaming run that turned out to be a nice fat fall 28 pound 4 ounce beauty. The bite had started, and I caught 5 more teeners from 13 to 18 pounds up until 11:30. Right around noon I got another screaming run, and this fish felt really big when I set the hook into her. I could have sworn I had finally tied into the elusive Herman 40, but when I landed her she only went 30 pounds 12 ounces. Still I could not complain, as I felt I had a pretty good morning on old Lake Herman, especially since it was my first outing in a couple of months. I hope you enjoy some of the pics. Thanks.

Too bad I missed you Rod, I just got back from working in Omahell!! I call it that because it gets pretty hot and humid there. Have a good trip, and good to see you supporting these guys!!

Nicely done young man, now keep the Mon fish coming!!!
-
Nice going Mac, have you caught any biggies this year?
-
Those darn broken bones, what a hurdle to fishing!!! Get well soon, and just know that you will definitely know when the barometric pressure is changing, from now on!!
-
Welcome to the site, and great fishing there, man!! I'm sure it will be no time at all before you have a 40+ out at that swim!!!
-
Way to win some cash there Scotty boy!!!

Awesome job MM!! Have you ever thought about throwing a bigger minnow lure out there for them? Maybe you will start tangling with the 20's and 30's if you use a Musky sized jerkbait or minnowbait. Nice fish though, for sure!!
