  1. We had gotten about 6 inches of rain within the past 4 days, and the slough arm of Lake Thompson was flowing into the lake at a pretty good rate. This really got the carp moving into the slough, and up and through the culverts. I could not get any of these 'high' water fish to bite, but I caught 2 nice ones on the main lake. Here are some pics.

  2. Neil makes a very important point.

3 things I am very anal about with my carp fishing:

    1. Hooks/rig quality.

    2. Line integrity.

    3. NO SCENT ON MY HANDS!!

When I go fishing, and need to get gas before hand, I either make someone pump it, or wear a plastic bag. I never use sunscreen (which I know I'll pay for later...but..) or spray..especially near hands or bait.

    VERY important!!

Not just for carp fishing either my friend, I have been very anal about the no scent on my hands for every kind of fishing since I was in my teens!!! My wife thinks my ears and neck are going to burn up into a leathery mess and fall off!! B)B)

  3. Well, two of my good friends, that I grew up right next door to back in Minnesota, Mark and Mike Peters decided to head to the mighty MO river with me on Memorial weekend to chase after some salmon and walleyes on Lake Oahe. My friend from work, Curt also wanted to try his hand at the King salmon, since he has heard me babbling on about them at work. Well Curt and I arrived Thursday night, and the Peters brothers were set to arrive Friday night, so Curt and I thought we could scout out the salmon situation on Friday and give the Peters bys a good report when they arrived later that night. Such was not the case. In 50 degree, windy and rainy weather, we fished all day by the dam face, and caught one measly salmon. The next morning, the 4 of us fished for salmon from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with not even a tripped downrigger!!! Curt left us at 10:00 with his one salmon, and the Peters boys and I trailered up the boat and drove 50 miles north to Whitlock's bay to fish for walleyes. To make a long story shorter, we fished sunday morning for salmon also, with no luck, but we caught some nice walleyes both afternoons. I hope you enjoy some of the following pics. B)

  4. Hi Mario,

I think you need to come north to SD and catch some prairie carp with me. The wife would probably like to check out the Laura Ingalls (Little House on the Prairie) Museum, and you might want to see Mount Rushmore. We will catch plenty of nice carp, and you will see lots of wildlife, like pheasants, buffalo, deer and antelope. Hope to see you.
