Some very nice fish there. Well Done.

Great story and pics. I picked up a lot of tidbits about winter fishing from the diary. Thanks for posting.

I have been fishing the Blackstone River near my house since I was a kid. . Biggest mirror I ever caught here was in the low twenties. But, that changed this past spring. In a place that I had caught hundreds of fish under 12 lbs., I suddenly hit a big one. This one topped the scale at 28 lbs. While I caught bigger carp in 2010, this is the one that I remember most.

Terrific video. Some serious lumps there.

Nice going. Carp caught at this time of year are certainly great achievements.

Corey,
Congratulations to you and your wife. Another future carp fisherman some day!

My carp fishing seminars will be coming to two big shows this winter. My latest seminar is called "Secrets of NE Carp Fishing". It is a Power Point presentation that has tons of pictures and videos and is a tell all show made for beginners and well as the seasoned carp fishing enthusiasts. The show will cover tackle, baits, rigging, and river and pond fishing.
The first show will be on Fri., Feb. 12 at the Eastern Fishing and Outdoor Expo at the DCU Center in Worcester at 1:15. This is the biggest fishing and hunting show in eastern New England and features lots of tackle dealers and companies that showcase their latest equipment. For further info, the show's website is http://www.sportshows.com/worcester/index.html
The second show I will be doing is the same seminar at the Springfield Sportsmens Show on Sat., Feb. 26 at the Big E in Springfield, MA. This is a massive show that is held in three buildings. It also features exhibitors from all over North America that cater to fishing and hunting. Their website is http://www.osegsportsmens.com/
Carp fishing seminars are rare in shows like these since they tend to cater to traditional freshwater fishing for such species as largemouths, salmon, trout and pike. However, in recent years, I have had a good number of fishermen attend these seminars, evidence of the growing popularity of carp fishing.

Jerome, another great video. Loved the footage of the "fattie".

Thinking about joining our group? Here is the link to our end of the year video that our RI CAG and friends produced. We've got some great carp fishing here in RI and nearby MA!

Here is the link...once again.

I'm hoping some of our regulars who frequent this Forum will introduce themselves. We have a great bunch of guys (both CAG members as well as non-members) here in RI who fish together and share ideas.
Let me add a few things that may not have been included above. I am retired so I get to fish A LOT. In fact, I carp fish just about every day in the morning and sometimes at night also. I am also a fanatical stiper fisherman and I tend to do that at night. My claim to fame in the fishing world is that I have landed over 50,000 striped bass from the shore, a feat few fishermen, if any, have duplicated. I manage to catch a lot of carp from the state waters as well as from nearby MA waters. I especially enjoy river fishing and love fishing the Blackstone, Merrimack and CT rivers. Here in RI there is very little carp fishing pressure and I often fish places in northern RI that no one has ever caught carp before. It' s almost like fishing private waters!
I took over as state chairman of the CAG here in RI 6 years ago. At the time, I was the only CAG member. Now we have 12 members and we seem to have many newcomers sign up every year. I enjoy running the group and try to get out and fish with all our members.

Yes, carp can be caught here in RI in December.
I got a call the other day from a fishing buddy (striper fishing). He was quite surprised when I told him I was out carp fishing. He said he thought they only hit in the warm weather. Many fishermen seem to think the same way.
I am still fishing just about every day in a few choice spots that I bait up regularly. Today, for instance, I landed 2 mirrors and a good sized common (see pic). The action wasn't hot and heavy but it wasn't bad for December 2! I will continue to fish the carp waters of the state until the ice arrives. I have caught carp from open waters in this state every single month of the year, including January!

Amazing. Next time you're out fishing, get blanked and can't find a fish anywhere, play this video.

Great catches. You guys are real diehards and deserve every fish you caught!

Nice fish. I love river carping.

Very interesting video. I've seen this aggressive feeding when carp are taking mulberries dropping in the water. They will pluck them off way before they hit the bottom and will feed non-stop.
