I was just looking at the member list for our state. As being the second largest state,I was surprised to see that we only have 25 anglers listed here on CAG.Not all of them are members.
Only 11 on the list are actual members, the other 14 are forum guests.I know efforts have been made to encourage anglers to join. The heat has been a factor this year in getting out to where others can see us,and I know that hasn't helped.
I know I along with others here have promoted carp angling as well as CAG.So what is it we can do to get these numbers up? Other than what we've been doing, are there any suggestions anyone has to get people more interested? Curious to know what everyone thinks about the numbers considering the size of our state.I thought we had more members than we actually do so I'm a little surprised to see how few we actually have.

It will be nice just to be there and meeting other anglers. The catching and winning would be an added bonus and you said.It would be nice to see every team catch some fish.
-
A porta potty at some of the swims would be nice, but I'll make a note to myself not to eat any baked good y'all bring down...lol.
We won't mind sending you home with a runner up trophy so y'all won't feel as bad.
-
We'll be ready and waiting for the yankees to come down so we can send y'all back home...lol

Only 9 teams so far? Come on people time is running out.Wait too long and someone just might grab the last spot before you get in.

I know I'll have at least 2 days off to fish.Just not sure where I'll be fishing at.Tempted to go camp out some where and see what happens.
How about everyone else?

I just got an acct. on FB,but I always bring the CAG forum up before FB.So for me it doesn't take away from here.In my thinking you can lead people from FB to our forum here. That is if they aren't aware of it already.

I had to get my partner from Alabama..lol.So if he can drive 10 hours to fish it,then I'm sure you can fish it this year Ted..
-
Wonder what he does if he catches on all the lines at once..

I'm thinking it has to do with the water temps being cooler than in the south.Since the fish in the north are use to the temps then when they drop some it doesn't really affect the bite.

I left out about 5:30 to meet up with Chris for a session in Waco.Got there about 7:00 stepping out to feel the air temp.It was a cool 45,with slight winds.Chris wasn't there yet so I sat in the car keeping warm until he showed up about 7:30.
It was slow moving for the both of us since we decided neither of uswere upp too moving fast just yet..lol.
We finally got all set up and lines in the water around 8:30 and waited for the runs to start. In the mean time Chris checked out the fishing forecastst for the day.The results said it was bottomed out and the fish wouldn't be bitting after 10:00.Not a very good out look in you really go by it,which we don't.About 9 something Chris got the first run yielding a nice buff.
Five minutes later he got another run banking his second buff within 10 minutes. After that one was released he got another run producing yet another buff. That was 3 buffs inside of 20 minutes, things were looking good. Then the bite died off for a little while.
We both banked a couple of more buffs in the mid teens range for a while. It seemed the carp weren't taking bait, despite seeing some crashes. Then at 12:50 I got my first run landing my now current PB buff @ 22.12 lbs. That made my third pb in Waco to date.It wasn't until about an hour later at 1:40 when Chris banked another buff weighing 21.8 lbs.
After this Chris made a run to the store for some snacks as I watched our rods. While he was gone I got another run.During the fight a lady had came down asking questions about our gear.I got the fished banked and just as I was about to get the high teen buff out of the net,I get another run...lol.
I get the hook up and asked the lady if she can hold the rod for a second.I wanted to get the banked fish back in the water. As I do this and get my rod back from here one of Chris's rods starts getting a buff bite.Little did I know while that lady had my rod the fish had ran into a snag.
Chris finally got back and I let him know he probably had a fish on.He picked the rod up and sure enough there was a fish there.I finally got my line unsnagged losing my fish.As Chris fought his buff I found out I had talked to this lady about our gear before. She was looking to get some for her husband. So I gave her some cards for gear and bait,as well as some info on CAG.
Chris's buff got banked and the bite died off again. It wasn't until 5:35 when we got more runs.Chris got another run banking a nice common at 18.2 lbs.The first and only of the day.As we get set to take a pic he gets another run.So I keep the carp in the sling putting it in the water as Chris fights his other fish.It turned out to be another buff at 15 lbs.
We both had a couple of more runs resulting in hook pulls. The last fish of the day was a baby buff about 5 lbs. with some beautiful coloration to it.Despite thr forecast for the day he had a nice session ending at 9 last night.
Now on with the pics worthy of taking for this trip.
22.12 Buff
21.8 Buff
18.2 Common
15.0 Buff

Just remember Texas wasn't in that 1800 battle. That old saying "Everything's bigger in Texas". That includes the arse whoppins too..
-
Looks like I'll have to clean up Texas by sending some yankees back north, after showing them how things are done in the south....
-
Nice catches,well done guys.
-
Very nice capture Mike.Just to let you know over 30 isn't old at all.I'm 38 myself and even though my body feels older at time I know I'm not old.So just keep on enjoying the benefits of fishing.

Welcome aboard Tony.

Nice catch Scott.Congrats on the 40's for this year.

I was thinking more along the lines of a state wide fish in at some point.Take one day and get all that we can to have a fish in in the area they live in.That would be something we might be able to get publicized as well.
Just a thought I had is all.I know it would take some planning to get done. But it might also be easier on some that can't get to some of the fish ins.Host one in your own area and the only person to blame for not showing up would be yourself...lol
