The White River Fall Classic took place on Sunday Oct. 7th on the White River in Downtown Indianapolis IN from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
We had 47 anglers show up to fish the tournament. They faced windy, cold, high water, swift current and a poor bite, but they stuck it out to the end.
They ended up with only 10 anglers getting 17 fish. The Winner ended up getting just over 25 lbs of fish (3), and the runner up just under one pound behind with 24 pounds plus. Big fish was 15 lbs flat. The 17 fish combined for just a tad over 130 lbs, with a 7-14 average. There was over $1500 in cash paid out to the winners.
Peg Draw took place at 10am and each peg had a Cheese Dominoes pizza deliver for lunch to their peg. The awards and banquet took place immediately after with a small meal for every one.
Admir Islamovic took the big door prize with a 3 piece set of Optonic remote alarms($159 value). Everyone else received some type of prize from T-shirts to bait bags.
Special thanks to Marukyu Baits for the generous door prizes. They were surely appreciated. Thanks to everyone who braved harsh weather and high water. Pre-Tournament:
9th Annual White River Invitational started out with a few problems on Friday. Everything was set up for the Night before the tournament Party when a strong storm came through with 60 mph winds and wiped out 4 of the shelters that were set up. Like all tough carpers we got what we could back together and the party went on as scheduled. We had some good food, $1 beers and live Music from "Wild Horse Band". A few carpers had too much to drink and even made a fool of themselves on the dance floor. (No names mentioned please) What happens in Indy stays in Indy.
We had 55 carpers show up for the Peg draw. The Temp was supposed to reach 100 degrees. That is hot for a venue with no shade. Especially when the tournament director's head was still aching from the party the night before. This tournament was going to be a real test of will for all who fished it.
The peg Draw went off at seven and the fishing began at 8:00 am. Each angler was sent out with two bottles of water and a box lunch. We had 5 coolers of Ice water stationed along the venue. Keeping everyone hydrated was of the utmost importance.
The Tournament:
The River was extremely low from almost no rain in the last month. That coupled with record heat did not have the anglers optimistic. Jim Rink got things started with the Tournament's first fish with 10 mins. of the start. Shortly after there was a flurry of fish Hauling on the north end of the venue which resulted in ten fish being caught on 3 pegs in less than an hour. After that there were fish scattered throughout the venue through the day which resulted in 45 fish being caught overall. Despite the less than perfect conditions the were still some decent fish along with decent numbers.
Here is a look athe final Results.

Jathan Imhausen deserves the credit on this one. He arranged the whole deal with "Outdoor Adventure TV". It does capture the essence of carp fishing.
-
In June 2011 Indiana Outdoor Aventures TV filmed the "White River Invitational Carp Tournament" in Indianapolis IN. The show did a great job of promoting carp angling CAG, and carp as a sportfish. Frank Rink won the event with a nice haul. I am very proud of this video. It is a good epresentation of what carp fishing is about. Please take a minute and watch it.

I was very proud of the job Indiana Outdoor Adventure done on this. This show has a very large audience. CAG is well represented in this video.

The 2011 Hoosier carpers Tournament trail "Top Ten Tournament" took Place today on the White River in Downtown Indianapolis. It was a beautiful fall day with temps in the low 60s with decent amount of sun. Most of the top 10 have been baiting their pegs the last several days. The Tournament kicked off at 11 am and went until 5 pm. We had our first weigh in around 2:00 pm. The first peg we weighed was Peg #1 with Jathan Imhausen of Plainfield IN. Jathan weighed in a nice bag with 70lbs. at the halfway mark. As we went down through the line of competitors Frank Rink of IL weighed in about 20 lbs. of fish several other were between 10- 15 lbs. We Finally reached Peg ten with Mike Olinger of IL on peg #10. Mike had a nice keepsack of fish weighing in at just over 62 lbs. with a big fish at 15-8 that would hold on to win Big Fish Honors. With 2 hours to go Jathan held onto a slight lead. This tournament was coming down to two anglers.
As the second weigh in approached several anglers added a few fish, however noone was able to reach Jathan or Mike. Jathans second weigh in was done first as he added another nice bag of fish totaling over 50 lbs. to bring his total to 121-10.
Mike Olinger's was last up with 2 decent keepsack's full of fish to add to his previous weight of 61-7. He would need 60 lbs. 4 ozs. to take over first place and Claim the Championship Trophy, $225 Cash and a Prize Package valued at over $750. Mike added 67-4 to to his total to put him at 128-11. Congratulations to Mike and the rest of the top 10 competitors for a great tournament. There will be a video of the tournament coming out this week.

WTG Guys Looks like a good time was had by all.
2013 CAG CCC moved to Indianapolis
in Illinois Carp Fishing NEWS Tournaments and Contests
Posted
I would first like to say Thank You for giving Indianapolis an opportunity to run this event. We understand that this is the 20th anniversary of this tournament and we hope to make it special. We all know that if not for all of the efforts of the Chicago Area Carp Anglers that this event would not be what it has become. The Hoosier Carpers have always had a close connection to the CCC. We will do everything possible to keep the traditions of this tournament at the forefront of our planning. We have put together a very capable committee to begin planning this event. We will be meeting soon to layout the schedule of events. Without saying too much yet, here are a few of the details.
We estimate that we will be able to accomodate nearly a hundred anglers if necessary. We plan to have a pre tournament fishing event on the Thursday night and Friday before the CCC. We have discussed having it at an area paylake that is very CAG friendly and one of the Top Carp paylakes in the Midwest.
We will host a Corn Boil on Friday evening at The Westsde Bait and Tackle. This will feature a catered Meal, Live Band, and fun party. I'm sure there will be plenty of beer available also. This will be free to all of the participants and families.
There will be a box lunch delivered to the pegs of all of the anglers participating during the tournament.
The Meeting and awards will feature a catered meal in the Sportsman's Hall located just behind the Westside Bait.
There will be a Single Rod Carp Derby and Cookout on the Sunday after the tournament at a private location for anyone who wishes to stay on for an extra day.
There will be a Bivvy town set up in the field next to the Baitshop for anyone who wishes to camp on any of the nights. There is numerous hotels within a mile of the venue that we will be contacting for rates and possible special pricing.
We will have weigh stewards with scales for the tournament, so there will be no need to bring your own scales.
We will be discussing lots of other details when we meet.
Some of the Committee members include:
Jathan Imhausen: CAG State Chair
Gilbert Huxley: Founder of Hoosier Carpers
Rick Slinker: Former CAG Chair and 2 time NACC
Amos Behanna: 2 time Chicago Carp King
Paige Behanna: CAG Member
Jim Donlan: Owner Westside Bait
Tony Lett: CAG Member
Arleff Weaver: CAG Member
and many more Hoosier Carpers who will be helping out.
