Welcome to your friend. He needs to be a little more specific about how he wants to fish. Does he want to buy new equipment? Use his existing stuff?

If he joins the club all the info he could use is available.

To resize your picture to fit the forum, google microsoft power toys and scroll down the page to "resize photos" and download it.

  3. Persective is the answer, Yup your right about a big guy making the fish look smaller. It's too bad we couldn't get that little guy from Real Fishing to stand in for us. He makes 5 pounders look like tens. There is also a lot of diversity in the shape of carp. One may be a lot thicker acrooss the back which doesn't show in a picture. There was a post on this.

Oops one more thing, your buddy is holding the fish farther away from his body than you are . His elbows are straight out, yours are bet up at a right angle.

edited because I had to add the last bit

  4. We call 'em BAIT! :D

    (But yeah, Common Shiners)

The best of luck to you, Jake! Excellent goal! (Glad to see Bowfin on your list!)

The Fall Fish I am talking about is S. corporalis and gets up to 18" long. They do make good musky and big fall walleye bait .

The common shiner is L. cornutis and doesn't get near that size.

The point is moot though, when I did a little research on them, they don't occur as far west as Minnesota.
