  1. Well done Rob. Jordan is usually pretty muddy this time of year and that is why your fish was washed out. Good to see you putting some on the bank. You are in a great area for carp. Looking forward to seeing some more.

  2. Nice Going, was in there last night after dinner for a hour testing out the new kit I picked up from Simon last week. I really love my new Roving Sling. Makes packing over to this area so much easier. Similar results - had 3 smaller males in an hour on honey corn topped off with pink pop up maize. Loads of line bumps, had to go completely slack line.

I went down to 1/4 oz. of lead.

  3. I had my day in the sun yesterday at a local swim some of us call Silverball. It was a dandy. Sunny and warm with a cool breeze off of the lake. I arrived at CCIW about 1 and talked to a few guys then walked into Silverball. Which is about 400 m. away. I set up and was into my first fish within 10 minutes then came a long wait. I saw some carpy activity to my right and so I moved over a bit and tried another piece of the swim. BINGO! I started to catch and continued to catch all through the late afternoon and early evening. I had a blast. I fished until I ran out of packbait. I caught around twenty. Most fish were males in the low to mid teens, Nothing over 20 and with one fiesty 4 lber. They were still high on testosterone and fought like crazy. Many were dinged up from spawning. They had cuts, scrapes, gouges , split fins and missing scales. Badges of honour from having participated in the struggle to continue the species.

There were a couple that were still in good shape .

The carp are still spawning there and I think the cold water delayed the spawn and may prolong it. Carp will still be coming into CCIW for a while yet.

  4. I would like to suggest packbait and puffed corn. Pack bait should get you around the no chumming laws since it goes on the hook. I asked about this via email to the province of British Columbia here in Canada. They have the same no chumming laws. The reply was that if it was on the hook it was bait not chum. All other methods like feeders and others that were mentioned on this thread were considered chumming and were illegal. Try emailing the appropriate government agency in your state. Puffs and pack bait information are easily accessible on this forum.

  5. Thanks Mark for holding it. I had a good time talking carping with the guys and meeting friends and seeing some new faces. I got the chance to christen my new super modified paylaker outfit. I managed two fish later on in the day. The new outfit handled the fish quite nicely.
