Enjoyed the write -up Paul. The young guy will remember you for a long time.

"Elite group" Lorne? Sounds almost like "Leading edge" to me.

Great score on the gear.Nothing like a mirror caught in a nice spot to compliment it.
-
Nice work. I would love to fish that swim.

Experimenting is important but using what gives you confidence matters the most. Thanks for sharing your post with us Paul. Oh, about the paylake stuff...I'm sure Hammercarp will chime in on that LOL

I got to do some long weekend carping this weeked. Nice to fish out of town again and explore new waters.
I wish I could have arrived earlier as that was the prime time for the day. I started off with a bombardment of method balls. I managed to get them out quite far with help from a SW blowing behind me.
It didn't take long for the Delk to beep and the bobbin to em...Bobb. (ha, ha). The rod fired off. Shortly after I get to hold a 18 pound common and have my photo taken with it : ) ...
Through the day I had a total of 7 runs ( I think?). Three fish make it to the net. One was lost when I was leaving it unhooked in the net only to watch it escape through a hole in the nesh when I picked the net up so that a passer by could take a photo.
One fish was lost to a cut off and the rest were hook pulls. The last fish was caught just as I were about to pick the rod up to reel in and pack up. I had to leave it in the poorly repaired net and wait for another passer by to take a photo. The first person refused. She said it was " Gruesome".....Ok. whatever. You really do meet all kinds on the bankside sometimes.
Luckily some guy with boxing gloves for hands takes the photo after 20 attempts which officially ended the session. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. It was early evening and time to load the carp Wagon and call it a day.

Hello!
We held our second CAG fish-in of the year at Pier 4 park in Sunny Hamilton, Ontario today. We had a good turn out of enthusiastic carpers who joined in on some bankside camaraderie, BBQ and great weather. Unfortunately we all struggled to catch. There were 16 people fishing and only 3 fish caught from 8-4pm. However, one of those fish did win Mike Ainsworth $65 from the big fish pot we ran from 9AM to 2PM. Congrats Mike! Randy, John and myself brought down hot dogs/ sausage and pop for anyone interested so nobody departed hungry.
Thanks to Daniel From the Ontario Carp Hunters/ WCB for helping out. Also thanks to all the made the effort to come down and support the event! I will announce the date of the next Fish- in to be held October 2014.
Cheers, Mark

Very nice!
I'm still trying to locate a decent nearly swim for float fishing...so far they're either too deep or too much current!
Thanks Fish
How deep is "too deep" for you?

Hi Brian. Welcome to the CAG

nice.. u got them a right time .. dinner ..they were after too...
Ha! A multi species dinner bell.
nice captures. careful if you put your pin down in a bankstick and look away for a moment....I donated a 600 dollar pin and a float rod to a hungry carp last month
Wow! Sorry to hear that! The reel I were using was a cheaper Okuma Sheffield. 'Cheaper' actually pays off with it because the clicker is not as tight as a higher end reel. If I get a surprise take it wont get dragged in as long as the eyelet is behind the bank stick or other support. ( so far at least ).
I have been thinking about the float as well Mark . It has been a while so I think my next trip I will give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration.
streeker OUCH that must have hurt.
I'll believe it when I see it
Nice pics and report for us Mark. Good on you for giving it a go after dinner. After dinner, I usually give it a go on my couch. lol
Thanks Mike. I hope you got your personal best couch time in
