  1. Probably way back in March when it was in the low 40s and extremely windy. We fished the stilling basin of Blue Marsh Lake. It was very cold, but I was eager to get out fishing after a long winter. My friend called and asked me if I wanted to hang out for a bit; I told him I was going fishing and he could come with if he wanted to. He hasn't much experience in fishing, which surprised me even more that he was also was eager to go, despite the weather. We arrived at the stilling basin, and I was very skeptical that we were going to do much catching. I didn't bring much gear because I didn't think the fish would be biting and that we would not be there for long. Really all we had were a couple cans of corn, bank sticks, and terminal tackle. I chummed up the swim with a can of corn, and we both put out two rods. I told him when he hears the drag run, that means he has a fish. We sat for about 20 minutes and I was thinking to myself to make this a fun trip for him, we got to catch something. I told him I would be right back to check how much the dam was releasing. He said he would keep an eye on the rods. When I got back, I saw my buddy landing his first carp!!!! All by himself, I couldn't have been prouder or more amazed! We caught 8 more in the 3 hour trip. The weather got much calmer; the wind died down and the sun came out, making it feel much much warmer. Fished a lot this season, but this trip would have to take the cake. I love those days where you really don't expect to catch anything, but it ends up being a successful trip anyways.

    Good story! B)

  2. I don't know if this subject has come up here before? Just wondering with winter around the corner and the snow and ice for us up here in the North, does anyone have any photo's of carp caught in the snow? Any tricks or stories they would like to share from past experiences 'snow carping?"
