Herkel is the master of all things Deep Creek.
In my one session there...I found the motor boaters to be aggravating. Nap all day, fish all night.

Awesome! Did you catch on rope lures, or something else?
-
nice one axel!

nice one john! Great looking fish! you kinda look like a carp commando!

should this topic be moved to the FFF sub-forum since it doesn't really seem to be about the big four?
Brid - either come out with it and say you think someone is cheating, or get to your point more effectively. Afterall, these tournaments are for fun. If people want to cheat, they'll figure out a way.

How bad is the duck and goose ####e on the lake so far this year?

I guess it's a toss up between wanting the ATC to just keep on keeping bumbling on -- or maybe having it developed into a comp that favours interest from all over the World -- without 'cramping' anyone's style of fishing?
If bait boats are allowed, I would definitely be there. Especially if there no rules excluding the use of spods designed to sink bait boats.

At around 100lbs...maybe they'll rename the fish the joker? But, will it be funny like Jack, or depressing like Heath. Congrats to the captor none the less.

Looks like the Howland's set the bar pretty high with that big fish!

that thing looks like its been force-fed boilies!

well, either way, nice fish.
It looks as if your goiter went away, you stopped retaining excessive water, or you've lost some neck weight? Nice work.

let me guess, a scrapper 30.

Those things are up there with sturgeon in terms of pre-historic appearance.

sorry for the loss buddy. Get out there and do some fishing to get your mind off it.

You could try float fishing, or alternatively try to back lead it as much as humanly possible. I find it really awkward to fish directly under the rod top, lots of rod knocks and line bites but not so many runs.
I completely agree with Pat. Your fishing situation sounds really similar to what I experienced in the really clear and shallow water of Seneca lake fishing from a dock. I'd try and get your rod tips angled down towards the water and backlead your line directly under your tips so your line is directly on the bottom from the backlead to your rig. Fish in clear water like that can be really spooked out by your line and I would bet backleads would really help get you more bites.
If you don't have backleads with you, you could make them out of paper clips and lighter leads really easy.

That is an awesome start to vacation! The fish is short and super girthy! Your description (and pictures) remind me of fishing Seneca lake. Pile the bait in!

louis got some cool stuff about this fish and recaptures up on a Philadelphia watershed historian's website. Pretty cool.

I do not know the individual or individuals to personally thank for sending me the 2009 "Scubs Doc" award for the FFF, so I am posting this in hopes that the people involved get the message. Whoever was in charge of sending this . Considering myself just an average angler, I am a bit amiss at winning anything. Again, a sincere thank you. It will look great with the plaques that I got for catching fish before 6 a.m. on January 1st (4 years in a row now). Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Ray
anyone who has fished with you knows you are anything but an "average" angler!
Congrats on the much deserved award!
