I don't know that Deep Creek Lake have limited shoreline and even up to 50..... lake is nice, large and deep.....big fish!
I know few big carp in Pymatuning and I thought that most carp anglers like to catch 100 fish a day! I see some tournaments they try to catch as many as possible but that's not for me! I like BIG FOUR!
Lake Storey is nice lake and I want to protect it because not many lakes in Illinois have BIG carp! I don't mind if lake is over 1000 or 5000 acres but 100 acres!

Mine is as early as first one is CAG newsletter!

That's what my point is that Miller Park lake is so small so Lake Storey's water 4 feet down to probably about 100 acres! What happened to Miller Park big carp since? That's what I am afraid of Lake Storey! Release large carp would be more difficult to catch or even death if not right way to release. Large lake is better for big tournament! At least 1000 acres!

Lake Storey is only 133 acres and I think its pretty small for CCC. 100 anglers and less might be okay in 2 or 3 sections. If water is 4 feet lower and need time for dry up! I don't want to fish on mud!
How about Miller Park Lake? Nice whole shoreline around the lake!
Dale Hallow Lake in Tenn/Ky?
Deep Creek Lake in Maryland?
One of Finger lakes in NY?
Lake Erie in Ohio?
Plymuning in Ohio/Pa....I went there at spillway dam and I never see so many carp! People feed them and ducks walk on carp! Plymuning have plenty of shoreline!

That's good! Nice fish! Yesterday I fished and only one big run! This morning, I drove a few blocks then I changed my mind and I went home! Safe come first! Road with ice, rain and ice mixed so forget it! Not worth for risk so I can wait for better weather!

Nice! I was there! Good old days!

That's great and I am sure some over 30's out there! I stay away from too many small fish lakes!

I marked on Oct 7 to 11 on my 2015 calendar! I am curious about why you pick Johnson Saulk Lake for carp fishing event? Camp? Carp over 30 lbs out there? Thanks!
-
I remember that I saw car parked so close to the river and next time I will stop by and said hello! Far left of your spot is shallow and lack of current. I tried that area few times during hot sunny day for gar but no luck. I caught few nice shortnose gar at Sterling Dam and of course I released them! Fun and prehistoric fish is great fighter and sharp teeth!

Kinkaid and Cedar Lakes have some large carp. Over 30 lbs!

Oops! I mean Dixon HS....not Maine East that's where my two kids went! Bunny Bait Shop in Dixon owner told me there have some very large Flathead cats!
-
I know where is that place! Across from Maine East HS! I have second home near Dixon! You drove way down there is crazy! I fished Rock River many times for smallmouth bass, walleye and catfish. I don't fish there for carp much and hope someday carp grow big! Sad that many fish killed about 10 years ago and hope big carp will come back! One guy told me that he caught large carp on small bluegill at below dam before fish killed!

Finally! Thanks!

41 lbs...WOW!

It worked pretty well the day before the event with many fish caught including 15 fish between two of our up and coming young anglers!
With all that action the day before, why wasn't it the same the day of the event? That many more lines in the water should have scooped up the many fish in the area! Or did the fish leave?
Fishing pressure is other reason even large lake like Lake Michigan. I fished there 15 years ago and easily catch over 20 carp and many 20's lbs. Today is 8 carp seem to be a good day but not many over 20's lbs. Of course large carp over 30's lbs are out there but they are very smart fish! When you hook a large carp then release and you might not catch that fish for a long time. I know one easily over 50 lbs in the Chicago River near Wolf Point in late 1990's so I always wonder what happen to that fish and never heard of anyone catch it. Maybe it die of old age or maybe still swimming somewhere and avoid us! Very large carp are VERY smart!
