Thats great fish!

Nice weather! I went out of town for a long weekend. I fished my sercet lake last week for 3 days ....no fish! Well, thats life! If I have a good day on that lake then 4 fish would be easily over 90 lbs! Time for me to fish different lake!

Mike ...thats great! Fishing is not easy yesterday and Water Rec boat clean up shoreline!

I warn you that you need a large tank for Koi. At least 120 gallons per 1 Koi. They are pond fish and fast growing up to 24 inch or more. You can check out about Koi in google.com and many suggest is need a pond with at least 4 feet deep. Not garden pond. I want some Koi, fun to watch and feed them by hand.

Today I went fish from 7 am to 9:30 am. Waters up and strong current. Caught only one fish 12lbs 9oz and other is a tiny fish! Yes, hook in mouth and point of hook out of its gill! Not sure whats it ....goby or darter or sculpin? Large flatboat slowly passed me and they work to clean up on other side of shoreline. waters messy and dirty so I left at 9:30am!

range cube? whats it?
-
It also never hurts to spray the range cube with a little Berkely's Crayfish Gulp spray. Buffs love it and so far, the catfish surprisingly haven't bothered with it.
I like Monster Crab flavor for carp and it should be good for Buffalo, too!

Some bait shop selling large goldfish for big catfish! Last summer my brother bought 2 large goldfish about 3 dollars each and he bring home to put in his fish tank. I think about build a large wood tank with pump and filter. 10 ft by 5 ft by 30 inch deep total about 780 gallons. Add some Koi, large goldfish, few 9+ " bluegills , maybe 1 5lbs bass and some large shiners in my basement. My wife dont care! Get large shiners from my tank for bait to catch big bass! You can find many above ground fish tank pictures and informations in basement in google.com!

I would try to use pop up big bait! 3 inch off bottom.

Thats very interesting! Heavy pre bait seem make sense and I dont have problem with that! I know one private lake in Illinois have a few big Buffalo but problem is lot of small carp up to around 15 lbs. Maybe catch lot of carp until get a big buffalo!
-
I was thinking about go to Lake Bird for big buffalo and now Lake Fork! I think Lake Fork is one of the best for big bass in Texas. Many bass over 13lbs to Texas big bass program for hatchery came from Lake Fork.

Thanks! Glad you got a 47lbs buffalo! I just wonder that to use the same bait to catch common carp and buffalo.

I am not expert on Buffalo because very few or probably none around Chicago. I think some nice buffalo might be in the Illinois, Mississippi and Rock River in Illinois. Someday that I would like go to Texas to fish for big buffalo. My question is baits .... same baits for common carp? I checked google.com and not much informations so I think serious CAG members know how to catch giant buffalo. Mazies ....good? Thanks!

Thats nice and fun! I know where you fish and how come you dont let me know?

smaller carp is not easy! If you know somewhere have lot of small carp then use simple sweetcorn and small hook then hope to catch small carp. What about Koi in pet store. Around 5 dollars for 3 inch Koi but it can live as long as 50 years and can grow to over 30 inch. 75 gallons is nice but still small for small carp and Koi. I would put 3 nice size bluegills and few nice 5 inch (not Koi) goldfish.

Too many 20's for me and I want 5 over 30's and 2 over 40's this year! I know one old pond that have one over 40's lbs carp because I saw it last June. My goal to catch is THAT fish!
