  1. I'm around Northern Lititz, Pa - which is close to the Lanc Lebanon line on Route 501. Ohh my MLB team is the Atlanta BRAVES!

To everyone else, thanks for all the comments!

yea sadly after looking at the pics i noticed you were a braves fan. BOO!!! haha i'm a marlins fan myself...yea yea i kno B) haha

i've been down to lititz before. not htat far away.

  2. how close are you to harrisburg? you say lancaster county, but that's pretty big. i'm moving to harrisburg in a couple months. also, what mlb team is that on your hat? it depends on whether or not i'll talk to you haha

  3. Nie fish Jake. Are they edible?

my brother has caught them up in canada and he said they were good, but they have a lot of small bones in them that are a pain to get out.

i didn't know pike live in creeks. that's pretty cool. i'd love to catch some of them. those are big for a creek as well. how long was it? 24 inches or so?

  4. I caught a grass carp of the same length and it was 47 lbs. yours looks a little fatter. i would say it's over 50.

thanks for the info. i've always wondered the weight on it. i'd love to get a replica mount of the fish. i'm gonna look into that some day.

  5. Excuse me...if you doesnt mint if i ask you...What the bait you use for that Grass carp. i Love to use it to...

i caught all them on corn. now i'm sure what other people have used, cuz they normally won't eat that. i had one on the line on some peas. i think the 48 inch grass carp was an accident, cuz it took over 12 yrs of fishing that pond to catch more grass carp and there's at least 8-10 of them in the pond and it's maybe an acre or two big.

  6. Nice fish Reeder. Have any luck carping in the Juniata?

Does the fire station still run their tournament?

A few years back I landed some nice "teen" fish @ Mexico............

EDIT: never mind Reeder, I got confused. Mexico is near Mifflintown and Lewistown on the Juniata. it wasn't until I read your other post (re: carp on the Susqy) that I realized you were near Mifflinburg and Lewisburg (they are 4 different towns). Your mind starts to go after 40..........

i have a buddy who lives in mexico. he doesn't fish though. people mix up these towns all the time. don't feel bad :D

  7. Dude...I grew up in Milton, PA! Family still lives there!

Awesome fish. Man, I miss fishing the susquehanna!

I lived right on the chillasquaque creek growing up and used to catch some great fish!

my dad's a school teacher and during the summer time he would work for shangri la campground. my brother and i would always fish in the chillasquaque creek. their were a lot of carp in there around the campground. the pond also had some carp in it. they didn't want them in there though. our job was to catch them and throw them back in the creek haha.

    thanks for the congrats guys.

  8. That is a monster Grassie. I want to get one that size. I am not sure what a grass carp that size would weigh but if the girth was around 30in it could easily go high 40's but I would just guess that fish to be in the 50lb range maybe higher, I would need to see a picture of a 60lber to judge. How was the fight on that monster?

Went to google and found a picture of a 49 inch grassie that weighed in the mid/high 50's and they looked very similar.

i wish we woulda weighed it. i would love to know how much it weighed. my bro and i also caught these http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/forum/inde...showtopic=28446 the 42 incher weighed around 28-30. i forget exactly, but the 42 incher was no where near as big around as the 48 incher in this thread.

i've only caught grass carp in that pond, so i don't know if this was normal; but it fought like a 5 lb carp until it came close to the bank and then it just took off. it would peel off 30 ft or so of line until it would stop. then i'd bring it back in and it would do the same thing. i did it about 5 other times until we brought it in. it was funny, cuz the water was low in the pond and the fish was too big to actually bring up to the bank. he just got stuck like a whale would in the ocean haha. my bro had to go into the pond and drag it onto the bank. he tried to put it in the net :D haha

i just love showing it to people cuz they never believe me that i caught that fish all by myself. that fish is actually the reason for in-fisherman to include grass carp with the commons in their awards program. they didn't have grass carp in the description before i sent that in.

  9. caught here in mifflinburg, pa at a local pond. picture quality isn't the best. i took a pic with my camera phone of a picture i had in a frame.

this one i caught when i was only 9 in the summer of 1995. it was 48 inches. i was only 6 inches longer than it :D

this was a double my brother (on the right) and i caught in the same pond last summer. the first time we caught a grass carp since the 48 incher was caught over 12 yrs. ago. mine was 42 inches and my brothers was 45 inches. i caught the same pair of these carp 3 weeks prior to this.
