  1. I too likre to tie my own, :D but my problem is I end up tying too many patterns, That may never touch the water, unless of course I end up dropping my box in the water :D:D . That is pretty cheap prices, there is some patterns I would rather buy than tie espicially under size 12s :D

  2. I'd be up for a fly swap if anyone wants to organize and play host! I don't dare handle all those flies, JJ (17 months) would eat them and Elia (3 years old) would decorate her clothes with them.

:D that wouldnt be good, I know what your saying, I have 2 four legged kids that I have to keep out of my flies & my tying materials

  3. :D

I have been satisfied with myh Diawa Regal 5000 BRi from resistance tackle for $39. Here is a pic, and a picture of them mounted on my 12ft Willow rods.

Nice set up, what brand & make is the rod pod??? If I may ask?

Hi Dave, welcome to the site, and

it is good to see another member in the North Central section, finally!! I am about 50 miles north of Sioux Falls, and we do some fish-ins around here in the summer. Just take I-29 north to the 109 exit and drive 20 miles to Madison, and we have some pretty good carp lakes around here. Would love to see you up here next spring and summer. :D

Thanks Cyprinusman, I have a realy stupid question though :D , What is a fish-in?

  5. Welcome! Hove you combined your love of carp fishing with your passion of the fly rod? It is a real challenge and quite rewarding when you connect.

A few times, but not as much as I should. I have caght a couple of five lbers or smaller. I could imagine what the fight would be like w/ bigger fish. I went to fly fishing event that a local club here put on and berry reynolds was our guest, it was very interesting, he put on a good demonstration!!! :D At that time I bought his books, and a video. fly fishin for carp sure has come a long way since then!!!!!

  6. Welcome. I have been through your state once. Cold and windy come to mind!

Yeah, your right :D its cold & windy here right now. The temp here is 28F with a wind chill of 21F & we just recieved 3-5" of snow here this morning w/ more to come I guess???? I wish I was down there right now, I have a relative who live in Guyton georgia, not to far from savanah, used to spend alot of summers down there fishin when I was a kid, It sure has changed alot since then.

  7. Hello everyone, I'm a new member on here, I live in Fremont, Neb which is in the northeast part of the state. I have about 20 lakes with in a mile or two from me and pretty much thats where I fish the most. I have been chasing the best sportfish (carp) 4 about 8-9 years now. But recently it has increased alot since I moved back to my hometown. My girlfriend says I have an addiction to carp fishing, She right :D I do :D but I tell her its a good addiction, at least I am not out drinking at the bar all the time, doin drugs,Etc....! she is very understanding, and 50% of the time my fishin partner.

My other hobbies are flyfishin, metal detecting, searching for indian artifacts. Well I am not goin to make this long, If any of you ever get out this way, and want to try some of the area swims feel free to look me up on here. I would be happy to meet new people w/ the same interests as I do.

    Dave
