Snake draw... it is the way!!
It would be very interesting if you had a 4 day event, with 4 differnt peg draws
-
I will be the first to admit I skim read the thread, but wouldn't making the peg draw a snake draft solve a lot of the issues? 1 of he 2 days you are going to pick a good peg. The other well you have to do your research.
I have no vested interest in this, but it just seems the most logical.

Rick,
The reason for the limit is space. Without knowing the water height conditions I want to make sure that everyone that has signed up has a place to fish.
As I stated there is a second swim with plenty of access if someone wanted to head up getting a group together, however, I do not have the time or resources to do this.

I need to purchase them not ask questions...
-
Hey all,
After looking through the US bait shops online, I am not seeing what I need in the form of Superior flavors.
Anyone willing to do some looking and possible shipping at the paylakes for me? Or if you know of another online source to purchase that would be fantastic as well.
-
I would to thank Team Magic Baits and Glass Scratchers for stepping up to the plate and offering a prize donation.
Thanks guys!

Some have asked, why the deadline so far in advance, The truth is, after the new year I have alot going on with work ect so I am trying to get the participants lined up as soon as possible so the little time I have after the new year I can use to contact potential sponsors ect.
Who knows, I may even get a little fishing in:)

Just a reminder, all entry fees need to be in by 12/25/13

Mario,
If you wanted to poach my swims come right ahead.. I will expect you in July or August... we all know you can not handle the early Michigan spring cold of 50 F
-
"Gerber" ???
-
I will be posting a few other swims as well. As stated, I just wanted others opinions on baiting ect.
-
Rebel,
Thank you for the response.
My question is , how much is too much. When I fish the Wooden Shoe swims, I will go through 1-3 5 gallon buckets of bait a day.
Starting a month ahead of time, If I was to do it. I would start with 35-50 pounds of bait twice a week. Wend. and Saturday. 2-3 5 gallon buckets full.

As stated in my other thread, My baiting styles here, bewilder most of my peers.
I have 7 weeks of vacation to use this year, and I am going to spend 14 days of it carp fishing around here in the spring. That being said, I am looking to hear different approaches to short term and long term baiting.
Bing map of the swims
Swim 1 (The swim)
The park is small and off the main flow of a major river. Jenn and I fished it once this year while we waited for Jerome to fly into town.
2 distinct features in this swim,
an old boat ramp and slight trough you can see in the picture on the north end. and the very large, but very shallow weed beds on the S side
We fished between the two trees to the left of the gazebo and had success that day at 20 yards 40 yards and as far as I could cast.
Now to the main body of this question. If you knew 1 month ahead of time, how would YOU chum this swim leading up to the 3 days Intend to spend fishing.
My normal chumming consists of almost anything you can find from a feed store and homemade boilies.
Bottom is Sand and light silt
Swim 2 (The bridge)
I was looking to fish the upside of the bridge as meat fisherman usually fish below for cats.
The same question as before how would you bait this?
How does your baiting different than swim 1. Slow water vs slightly moving water.
Where would you set your rigs on your days of fishing?
Bottom is light silt
Swim 3
Never fished it... But it is on the main flow of a major river.
The same question as before how would you bait this?
How does your baiting different than swim 1. Slow water vs slightly moving water.
Where would you set your rigs on your days of fishing?
Bottom is sand
Thanks
Dave

Anyone else want to throw some ideas in the hat before I purchase some stuff to set up some rigs for this.
-
Dave,
I am unsure about the books.
If your looking for an interesting view or two.
Watch some of these video's Brian covers many different aspects of Carp Fishing.
-
What do u use for hook link in these situations?
-
So....
Some of you I am a bit different in how I fish my carp, I prefer to bait often and VERY heavy. There is a huge head of carp in my main lake and it can turn into and all you can spod they can eat buffet.
See Jerome's story and how crazy he and Dan thought I was
My issue is, I have always fished with method, and am not wanting to fish some single hook baits, be it corn, boilies, whatever.
My general set up is 40 braid to 27# leadcore on a bolt rig with 30# braid hook material. I wrap method around the lead and bury the hook and hook bait into the ball so they do not get tangled on the mainline when casted. This setup has worked great for short range fishing,
I however am looking to fish a bit more at range and spod a mix out to it and fish over it without breaking my back casting method.
What hooklink material do you use?
Pictures of setups??
Thanks in advance,
Dave
