Consider yourself a lucky man. My dad took me fishing all the time as a kid and it is still is a tremendous bond we have. Soon as my kids get a litlle older I look forward to doing the same.
When I started taking them, they were 5 and 8 I think. They usually went about 2 times a month with me. That was until a few years ago. Then it was every other time I went...they went. Last year they fished with me full time. At the beginning of the 05 season I bought them all the euro gear and they havn't looked back yet. Just take em young and be prepared to get frustrated with their impatience...but before you know it, they will be just as good....or better than you. My boys show me how its done often.

Thats great Justin!

I'm really lucky that the boys have shown so much and kept interest. My wife has no problem with the amount of fishing because of the importance of me spending time with them and also the fact that when its warmer..75degrees+..she usually goes with us. It is truly a family sport for us and one that will probally carry over to the boys with their kids. I have a ton of digital pics of us and our fishing trips that I plan on making a dvd out of. If they did not fish with me it would'nt be near as fun. Nothing like watching a 11 and 14 year old set up pods, bait up, cast out, reel in and net their own fish just like pros.

Nice Tim.
Gil had a male kiss the spreader block whilst netting a capture last weekend. Awesome sight.

My 2 boys and I get up every Saturday at 4 am. Hit the water at 5, 5:30am and fish till 7 or 8 pm. Sundays we usually fish till about 3pm and we also fish every Wednsday night. So about 20to30 hours a week. I enjoy the 14hr sessions on Saturdays the most.

Word is that you have to sit down when you take a leak at home...have you finished decorating your mother in laws house yet?
Mark,
I'm actually remodling her bathroom....and I'm getting paid for it, and making my wife very happy (if you know what I mean) by helping out her mum. You on the other hand probally don't know how to change your own oil.

Of course this is my opinion.....but anyone that could kill something and just throw it to the side is a subhuman! Carp are an important part of the underwater ecosystem designed by God for a purpose. If your gonna kill it, at least grill it. This kinda stuff bowfishers do does nothing but inflame most sportsmen.

Did the male that jumped in the net get logged in as a catch?

Gilbert wanted to count it as 2 but I would'nt let him....he's beating me in the numbers department so far.

Looks like ya had a good time Horace.

Also of note.....The first fish Gilbert landed was a 11lb female full of spawn. While reeling it in we noticed a male following her, staying by her side. When we seen it, Gil told James jokingly to net both of them at the same time. When James started lifting the net up the male jumped into the net with the female.

Went to a new spot today with my 2 boys, Charley Jr. and James...and Gilbert. After we set up we noticed they were spawning. We all then decided to pull in and fish off the bank and hope for the best. We could see a big female over in the corner of the lake under some floating debris at the shoreline and noticed the males going under the debris one after the other and then coming back out. . James decided to take 1 rod off his pod and fish 1 on a bankstick in the corner. At the end of the day James had 2 and missed 2 due to hookpulls at the bank. Gilbert had 2 and missed 1. Heres some pics.......

Dave,
I've met and spent time on the bank with Mr. Big. He is truly one of the nicest guys I've met while carp fishing. While I only fish paylakes a few times a year now, I can honestly say that he has changed the way I think about paylake baits and techniques and has contributed to me catching a ton of fish when I do make it out to one.

The best In-Fishermen carp segment I have seen was the one where Al Lindner was catching mid 20s on wheaties doughballs left and right. Awesome!
