  1. WTG Guys, totally awesome that you took care of my Captain the way "yall" did. B) I couldn't be happier for you Horace you deserved a good time and the Philly boys made it most memorable.

Louis , Matt and Rod all of you are real fine guys B)

What a week, 2nd trip on an airplane, meet a new grandson, meet up with missed loved ones and catch a PB. "Life is Good".

You guys are awesome. See ya soon Cap!!

  2. Well the Ol'Captain is in Philly now. I hope you guys are ready for him B)

  3. Another fine day except for the pole. But those things happen occassionally and just have to be dealt with.

Maybe have Big Bird get a mask and snorkle and take a dive in after it????

Congrats on the Grandson, Robert is a fine name! B)

Dont think Bigbird would need a snorkel, its only about 5' where the pole went in. Thats just a little over waist deep on him and Ol Cap

  4. First off congrats!!!!!

Yea you will miss some bank time for awhile, but you wont miss it, you're going to be too busy loving that little one.

Get in as much time as you can for the next 9 months, because after that fishing just want seem as important as it does now.

Best to you and the wife.

  5. Just how good can fishing be? Let me tell you just how good it can be. The tale of the tape wasn't much today, but the tale of the hook was awesome. Several days ago a fellow Carper (Fishhead) posted a thread titled "Free Hooks". Now thats a bargain if I ever saw one. Well I sent my PM with lightning fast hunt and peck strokes of the keyboard, totally expecting a "sorry their all gone" reply. To my surprise I got the last pack of size #2's.

A few days later an envelope of "Free Hooks" arrived in Georgia all the way from Utah. Now these #2's are quite a bit smaller than an expaylaker like myself is accustomed to, so I knew I had to change my ways. A hair rig and a boilie and whole kernal corn was going to be my bait of choice for this week. One problem though, I've never made a boilie and I can't tie a hair rig. I searched the forum, found a recipe for a basemix, and enlisted the Ol Cap'n for a lesson on how to tie a hair rig.

The rather not so hawg size fish today was a first for me in several ways. The first fish as a grown man caught on a free hook, the first fish I ever caught on a hair rig, and the first fish I ever caught with a boilie. A homemade boilie, that I made myself.

Thats how good it can be!!!, a kind gesture by a fellow angler on the other side of the country, set in motion the chain of events that put a smile on my face today. I know I learned more than just how to tie a hair rig and make a boilie this week!

Thanks again Steve(Fishhead), you never forget a first!!!!!!

(So fitting of my saying at the bottom of all my post)

  6. Today was one of those days....the kind that you tuck away in your heart. Today was "COOL", yea man with a capitol "C".

First, thank you Cool Dad for taking the time to "mentor" my boy Jacob today. He really enjoyed the day at the Hooch. He talked about you all the way home!

When we got in the truck my oldest son said "that was one of the best times I ever had fishing". My youngest agreed with him. They both truly enjoyed the bank talk and watching and listening to BigBird hold court today. Amazingly, they enjoyed fishing with out catching a fish. My boys are truly becoming young men!!

The fish didnt cooperate much today but that didnt matter. I had the pleasure of spending time fishing with my sons today, good ol' fashion quality time, memory making time. Today was a day to sit back, reflect and just enjoy the company of some of the finest men I have ever met, with two of the finest boys a Dad could ever want.

Another fine day with fine people, what a blessing!!!
