  1. Awesome. Congrats on a great trip. I know all about having everyone else beat my PB. I have 3 people caught bigger fish on MY geear that I set the hook for and handed off that would have beat my PB of 26#, including a 31 pounder my good friend Mark caught. I guess I am generous to a fault! lol

  2. Headed to Medina with my Dad and good friend James to fish at my dad's boat slip. usually we fish for hybrids and cat, but this time I had him pre-bait for 2 days with goat cubes. If anyone has fished a slip, you know the hazards associated therein...cables and snags.

Not long after I had lines wet, I had a hard pull (vertical fishing) and it pulled me right into a snag and broke me off.

So anyway, within a few hours after getting dark, there were several sandies swimming around our lights in the water. There of course we feasting on the smaller fish attracted to the light. I just happened to have my UL and over the course of the weekend probably caught 100 sandies. We kept a few for the fish fry as well as a few nice hybrids.

Here is a nice hybrid my buddy James caught...

Later, the carp started biting. We caught 3 the first night. 2 of them on chicken liver and one on maize. Check out the purdy muddler!!!

The next night the carp went absolutly NUTS. It was only after catching a few more on chicken liver did I decide to change up the bait for the carp. All I need to do was add bread balled up on my lil hook and BOOM! One carp after another for 5 solid hours.

Funny story first though. There is a cable that runs right through the good spot on the slip about 5 feet down. Medina is a clean water lake and it is easily visible. Well, James managed to knock my rod off into the water and like a miracle it landed on the cable and actually BALANCED there for a moment. That was all I needed and I took a dive in to save my rod and reel. That was my only dry shirt though and I had to show off my gut the rest of the night. Sorry about the skin photos.

James with the biggest fish less than a pound off the lake record at 11 pounds. The scale was a cheapy as my buddy Mark still has mine.

It seems the carp here have big heads and little, long, skinny bodies. There are tons of them though.

Awesome time. I probably caught 20 carp Saturday night and early Sunday morn. Heck, I fished until the sun came up.
