  1. Def makes sense that fish grow larger tails having to deal with current on a regular basis. Most fish have adapted to theyre surroundings, and have changed theyre bodies to fit the bill. Think back on where carp were "originally" bred and where most strains came from, basements of monastaries, that are dark, no structure or current to deal with. Your mirror carp and "leather" carp were bred by monks to be easier to clean and prepare for the dinner table, bigger/less scales, easier to prepare. Carp have been in US waters now for a VERY long time and have adapted to the different areas they live. Some say that carp in very rocky bottom rivers have different shaped mouths as well, so that they can vacuum between rocks, and slender/longer bodies to fit into "tight" situations, whereas pond/lake fish are rounder and fatter because they just cruise around freely hoovering it up. Food for though, good ?.

  2. I fish the area pretty regularly and during the week you shouldn't have to worry about too much traffic at all. Spent half the day there Tuesday and there wasn't one person fishing the whole stretch. I cant wait to stop down and meet some of the teams. There are some MONSTER fish in the river, and i'm sure quite a few will have their pictures taken. Good luck to all the participants.

  3. Hats off to everyone on the site, from the articles i've read, answers to members questions etc etc you guys are a top notch group.

So I got into carp fishing about 2 years ago after getting somewhat "bored" with the other species I fish for. Carp are hands down my favorite species to fish for with walleye in a close second place. My fishing season starts with ice fishing for pike, walleye and catfish (soon to be carp also) followed by trout management fisheries until the Ct season "opens" then its catfish, carp and walleye, followed by the striper run (we get some monsters) followed by mostly carp and walleye all spring and summer. This fall I will be specifically concentrating on carp, and am actually leaving in a few minutes for a session at one of my favorite spots. I look forward to meeting people from the site and fishing with other members that enjoy carp as much as I do. I have started to concentrate more on carp care in the past year or so, as it is important. I cant afford all the fancy stuff, but have come up with creative ways to take care of the carp when landing and so on. I just picked up a net online based on some suggestions here and will be testing it out this afternoon. Hope to meet some of you at the hartford tournament in a couple weeks.

Heres a couple pictures of my best fish thus far, and I hope to eventually top the 27lbr (which came from my backyard on lake ontario)

Ill have to add the pics tommorrow, they look like junk on this computer. Should have some video from today as well. There are allready a couple on youtube. from last year.
