Intense report Edward! Some important lessons nested in it as well. Thanks for sharing!
The journalism seems 1-sided based on the excerpts that you provide; their only interview is with immediate family. They may want to avoid making assumptions without a statement from the authorities; pending a toxocology report.

did "Bowie" use the line, "that's not a knife...THIS is a knife!"?
great write-up captain!
-
I'm proud to say that I beat Bigbird to my rods to get my first Larry fish
his reputation precedes him! now that's classic!
Awesome job documenting your mini-Fish-in Ethan! Congrats on another 30!

Thanks for any prayers for her and me as this might still be my fault. Lol lol”
It's ALWAYS our fault BB
Good Lucky Cindy! hope you're feeling better!

Nice Job Guys! was the practice for fishing or waking up before 10am
Are mirrors fairly common in your section of river?
-
Spectacular Fish! SOLID specimen!
Also, you picked a beautiful state to set-up shop!

Mrs. Classic threw in the towel years ago :/ Perhaps Mrs. Zoomie will serve as an inspiration

Can someone explain why I see so many supposedly common carp with these flared tails and fins? In other respects, they seem to be normal carp.
They are about 1% of the carp I catch in the Rock River, Dixon, IL.
They are absolutely gorgeous.
For lack of a better name, I call them 'angel' carp.
Are they crossed with koi?
that's a spectacular fish! I bet it looked incredible in the water! thanks for sharing!
p.s. these responses to the concrete unhooking mat are relatively tame; next time, keep something between the fish/ground and you'll be golden.

Nice Fork! very clean!
-
That's also my prefered set up. I still let the rod load and almost all the time the fish hooks itself.
I converted to circles about 15years ago for C&R. do you guys have any problems deep-hooking fish? what style of J-hook do you use?
-
You're a true ambassador for the sport Zoom!
-
I never got into the circle hooks but many swear by them.
8/0 & 10/0 gamagatsu circles for big blues. 2/0 circles for smaller channels. You just have to make sure you have a slow rod tip. I slow it down even more with monofilament (stretchy). And remember not to "set the hook". When I get a run, i start tightening the drag...I don't remove the rod from the holder until it's loading up.
If i can figure out a way to use fist-sized cutbait on a hair with a bolt-rig, i'll give J-hooks a try again

Awesome fish! I have to go down south for those beasts one of these days!
PM me know when "one of these days" comes up...I can recommend some top-notch guides on the James. I've remained in touch with them despite having "left the nest"; i tow my own rig down every spring.

cool write-up! congratulations on breaking that dry spell

Asian carp are good for something...catching world record bluecats! Apparently the guy used one that jumped in his boat (so legend says)...

Someone you know is trying to make sure that everyone on catfish nation understand the distinctions between different "Carp" (see post #20)

Wuh-HO! That video is CRAZY, classiccat!
you think the video is crazy, you should try fishing it! Mark can tell u all about it
-
are you looking for suggestions on tactics, gear or both?
You might get a few more responses if you can comment more on the water:
- current (if so, are there current breaks)
- clarity
- obvious snags
- weeds surface and/or submerged
- bottom (silt or gravel)
- does it get alot of wind?
-
great pics!

Awesome Job Ethan! way to spread the good word...with a pair of 30's!
I'd like to make a dive platform in the Hudson however my wife would be waiting for me in the driveway armed with a pressure washer :/
-
gorgeous PA scenery! you'll get'em next time!
-
cool video! do you target them directly (cutbait?) or have they just taken a liking to boilies and maize
-
Nice satchelyaps, Norm (go ahead, CC, make fun of that name...LOL)
Ya got me there Scott!
Charlie Moore! I should've known! He puts on a great show! have you ever considered inviting him to a Ma fish-in for a "Beat Charlie Moore"?
