  1. I can share the one we used, We went to a local hard cider mill, and pickep up two bottles of cider made with liberty spy apples, sweet, tart, very little dryness, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1/4 cup crystalized ginger, few orange slices, and a teaspoon of cloves, let simmer for 15 minutes and serve. You wont regret it.

I'll have to try that over the holidays!

I make mine with regular apple cider...then add the good stuff (Captain Morgans) once it's done the boil.

Another good "fleece pajama" drink is Boilo (a Pennsylvania coal region favorite!). :party0012icon:

    • 3 cups of cheap American blended whiskey (Governor's club, 4-queens, Kestlers, etc.)
    • 23oz Honey
    • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
    • pinch Allspice
    • 1 tbsp. caraway seeds
    • 1 cup Orange juice

    1. Pour Honey in a large pot or roasting pan & heat over a medium flame
    2. low-heat once the honey has a watery consistency
    3. add cinnamon sticks, allspice, caraway seeds, and orange juice to the honey
    4. simmer for 20-25 minutes
    5. Carefully (!) add whiskey
    6. simmer for 20-25 minutes
    7. Strain
    8. Serve warm (and in moderation, this will knock you on your arse!)

  2. Dr Frank

You might be right.......but I think we really need some data to address your hypothesis. Having consulted with my dearly-beloved (AKA financial adviser) I estimate that I could carry out the necessary research for about $600K and it would probably take a decade give-or-take.

As there are around 600 CAG members it would only require that each contribute $100 a year for the next decade to establish the facts. As someone with 30+ years of experience as a research scientist and carp angler I think you'd be getting a great deal.

What do you think Santosh? :D

    Iain

    this is CAG...not DARPA!

...on the otherhand, after we plunge from the fiscal cliff, CAG may have available funding

  3. Mike, please post your p.o. box so that I can send you a christmas card every year!

As the proud owner of a set of Ultegras, I can appreciate the level of generosity that it would take to donate such wonderful pieces of equipment!...consult with your tax advisor to make sure you can at least write them off.

All of those words and I didn't even congratulate you on an incredible "impromptu" session! and I won't because I'm extremely jealous! :really angry:

You are the man and should be inducted into some form of CAG hall of fame...if there was such a thing!

  4. Its shallow I sneak around the bank and from the bushes I throw in a few handfuls of bait I find this alot better cause I can see whats going on and if the fish are feeding I focus on a tree or some object were I put in my bait and cast to it from other side

Ah yes, that's what we refer to as stalking!

  5. Thats a different product. What I am referring to looks like a slingshot with a pouch on the end. WHat kinds of baits are you plannig on using to spod/catapult out?

just call it a slingshot

The 1st time I ever heard of 'catapult' in the context of carping, i visualized a trebuchet

  6. I have to give little clips an emphatic nod!

I've used them on several different venues ranging from still-water to ripping tidal current with heavy head-winds. (Note: My rods do not have wind clips.)

The 3 benefits that I've enjoyed so far are:

    1) More swinger travel since the clip pins the swinger to within 1" of the rod blank.

    2) Elevated sensitivity (critical for these cold-water months!)

    3) The feet of the d-clip serve as wind clips so I'm able to fish heavy wind and/or current with a loose drag (Shimano Ultegra).

    Echoing Brian's sentiments, excellent value!

1 question: Will replacement O-rings be offered? If not, I imagine that it's something that I can find at an autoparts store.

  7. Here's a thought. How many active specimen anglers do you think there are in the USA? 20 maybe? I don't even know if we can actually make 20 lol...maybe 10 is a better number lol. Do you guys think 20 is enough specimen carp anglers considering the size and number of our waters lol?

We're all active specimen hunters when we're actively blanking

  8. Here are some pictures of the last couple of trips , both trips were at the detroit river. Both times fishing was slow and we didnt catch as much as we usually do.

    sweet catches guys!

It's the slow sessions that make you appreciate the epic ones B)
