Looks good Bob!Does Lake Logan fish well in the summer?
Fishes fine Vince, only problem is limited bankspace on weekends fills up quick with locals. 2-3 of us going down there would work out fine but any more than that and it would be tough competition for bankspace.

Ohio CAG and the carp will be represented at the Columbus Fishing Expo, 13 - 15 Feb 2015, Lausche Bldg, Ohio Expo Center,. This includes a 1 hr, on stage presentation for all attendees as well as a booth for the whole of the event. The biggest thing I'm excited about is that there will be 4,000 Boy Scouts coming through during the course of the weekend. Will be looking for volunteers to assist. Good stuff.

Looks like a good venue and some nice fish to boot. What's with the PVC thingy? Looks like the marshmallow gun I have seen around. Used for spodding, maybe?
We had several folks, in CAG, noteably Steve L. in Pa., using the principle of the old potato gun to shoot out chum balls. In this case, Tim C. made one to shoot out boilies.

Looking good !!!!

Additionally, a carp fishing related prize will be awarded for the first carp caught...and...the smallest carp caught. Also, 8 a.m until 6 p.m

Last one of the year !!! Ohio will have a one day Fish In, 15 November 2014, at Alum Creek Reservoir, just north of Columbus Ohio. The exact location won't be determined until the week prior as the lake will be in the process of being drawn down and want to see what bankspace will be made available by this.
Please let us know in advance if you are coming as it aids in location selection and headcount for food. I will have brats, buns and grill.
Alum Creek can produce some nice carp and is a great place (and the last opportunity) to better your standings for the medals for Big Fish and Big 4 for 2014 Fish In's.'

See ya on the bank.

Sorry for your loss Brian but sounds like a great days fishing. You'll get him next time. All the best.

Austin, the East Harbor Fish In we do in April each year is probably the closest for you. Around 50 miles east of Toledo on Lake Erie. Usually lots of fish and a few 20's thrown in to keep it interesting.
-
That'd be great Austin..you're more than welcome anytime.

Hey George...just got a message from Tim. He took your's and Faye's left over dessert home...the kids loved it and want the recipe.

For several years now we've gathered on the Ohio River in October and the river has always provided. This year was no exception despite the windy, rainy and cold weather. We started on friday night and fishing was good right up until we all left Sunday afternoon. Here's some pictures to help share the event.
First some scenery pics of the area. Most were taken on Sunday when it cleared up.
Our youngest angler, Miss Courtney. She only seems to show up for the coldest events we have, last time we saw her was in April up on Lake Erie, she caught there as well. I've heard she's told her dad (Shawn) that she "will" be at every one next year.
Here's her dad (Shawn) with a couple:
Then we had "Double Trouble" Mike and Karrie. Their campsite (coupled with Tim and Phyllis) became our central gathering point. More on that to come.
Think this was Mike's first ever buffalo
Tim and Phyllis...very much a part of the central gathering point hospitality. If you're ever around Tim on a cool evening, ask for a drink from his jar. First picture is of Phyllis and her first ever carp.
Vince, one of many. He was the cause of me finally falling off the wagon of "no heater in the winter." I ended up making a trip to Cabela's and getting a Mr Heater...he was in shorts n t-shirt in his bivvy with phone in hand at night...put me over the edge. LOL
Rob was a pleasant surprise. He just fished in the Ed French Open last weekend and had to work this weekend. He texted me at 1:30 a.m Sunday morning and said he was on his way. He imediately got into the fish. We call Rob, Mr. Puff or Puff Daddy as he has done tremendously well using puffs with his Euro gear. Lately he has shown an interest in baitcasters and since I brought and used baitcasters this weekend I let Rob make some practice casts. After leaving his last cast out on the bottom...it got a run and Rob brought in his first baitcaster carp. It was baited with boilies though LOL.
Here's George, who along with Faye, caught lots of fish as well. They even filleted several catfish to take home. Sorry no fish pictures or of Faye...maybe he has some to post up. But, here's George eating breakfast Saturday morning.l Notice his trailer?
Phil's in his 70's and can always be depended on to support CAG events and has marshalled several competitions. He caught well too, just that me and camera weren't on station at the right time.
I mentioned earlier about the gathering spot. The efforts put forth by Mike, Karrie, Tim and Phyllis and their big canopy and tables...we all kind of gravitated to them. Always a fire going, always a hot cup of coffee. I even got treated to scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast. It was also the scene of a GREAT Saturday evening meal (I hesitate to call it a cookout) as Shawn prepared some fantastic Cincinnati Style Chili over spaghetti, Mike grilled some hotdogs which were served with Karrie's homemade Hunky Sauce and for dessert George brought a unique and very good dish that really hit the spot. Don't know what it's called but it was Frito's spread on wax paper with melted caramel poured over it and allowed to cool. ALL GREAT STUFF on a cold evening bankside. I've heard rumblings of coming up with a name and sign for future use. Great job guys.
In closing just want to say had a great time...super people all...can't wait until next time.

I forgot to mention the 5 Ohio members that went up to Byesville and competed in the Ed French Open too...they did the Buckeye State proud. Going to try and figure a couple Ohio CAG fundraisers to help these guys out next year.

Good show Austin, great catch for sure.

As I sat here thinking about what to write for this last weekend's Fish In and looking over the pictures, my mind got to wandering back through the whole year and felt the urge to thank all the great people we have here in Ohio and the many memorable moments you've provided me this year. It kicked off with our social in March and since then we've had 5 fun filled Fish In's, with one still to come in November. Additionally, 17 of us traveled up to Saginaw for the Midwest Regional and 5 of us traveled to the CCC up on the St Lawrence, then there's the Springfield Lake Tourney that Richie sponsored several times this year. Thanks for the many great moments and memories....looking forward to more bank time with y'all. Now to get back to my initial project...Rayland

Sorry to hear Mike, we'll catch up with you down the line. Take care.

All the best for Colorado !!! Nice fish.

Another bit of trivia, and a plug for one of our sponsors, Resistance Tackle (Dennis) has sent me a free baiting needle in each of a couple of my orders. Those have already been passed on to someone interested in carp fishing...;usually some young teenagers who are asking a bunch of questions about the gear and how to catch carp. Thanks Dennis...your generosity is appreciated by many.

Anyone interested in browsing the event magazine here's the link. Appears to be a good story of team preparation.

and....if memory serves me correctly, being that CAG was in it's formative stage, Bud didn't ask him if he wanted to be the state chair, just told him he was. LOL!!!

I'd be all for that Shawn. Anyone else interested in seeing this?
