  1. Pre-baiting always yields a higher percentage of catching carp. During cold weather the key is consistency. This means bait type, day, and time of day. Carp, and most fish in general, learn to feed in patterns. If you continuously pre-bait an area for days in a row at the same hour you'll catch carp there barring any outstanding circumstances.

  2. Thanks Mark-- the page is up and running (or so it seems) Word from the swim is that it's slow going with no fish on the books yet though.

Oh, it is running? I just noticed the update time at the top. No fish yet eh? Hope that changes, the rain should bring in some feeding.

  3. This base mix is simple and works well. All you need to do is add whatever flavoring or additives you want (birdseed, etc). The only thing you need to modify is more/less egg and more/less water depending on how much more/less items you add into the mix. But, trust me simple is better.

There are great rollers from Wacker Baits and Big Carp Tackle.

  4. You can even go more simple than that. This is what I tell everyone who's looking to make basic and workable boilies.

    EXAMPLE ("whatever" flavored boilie)

    2 cups semo

    2 cups corn meal

    1 cup rice flour

1/4 to 1/2 cup flavoring (depends on what you're using)

    6-8 eggs (depending on size)

    1 tsp vegetable oil

This dough will roll and boil/steam perfectly.

EDIT: This makes between 300 to 400 boilies at 15-16mm.

  5. putting on my state chairs hat now... DC would be proud to hold it again and we would like to be in as a choice . the key elements are in place now so it will be easier on this end and while this particular weekend didnt show it well ( the curse of the tournement day ) ..... the DC waters are a great fisherie.

heres what was caught at the same venue a few days later(37lbs) one of 20 some fish by 2 anglers

P.s. Id love to fish canada B)

Post CCC fishing at Haine's Point has been excellent. Between Paul and I we've landed over 70 carp in three days, and that's not including what Alex and Pat landed when the stopped by. Largest has been Paul's 37lb and we've had numerous 20-29lb carp.

CCC this year in DC was simple bad luck with storms and high water. Plus, with over 150 lines in the water it's tough to get fish to feed.

I would however vote for someplace in PA or NJ. I'd LOVE Philly given enough bank space.
