Oh please let's talk about cricket and confuse everyone
-
I have a Polish guy who fishe one of the lakes near me for carp (catch and release) but he says he does not like big carp as they aer ugly. Of course he does like the fight so puts up with the ugliness

Send a message to Jim and the will change you name if you ask nicely.

I thought it was Herr Flick

The hair in this case was the leader or hooklength depending on your name of choice.

I should also add that a lot of the bans are brought upon carp anglers by their own abuse of the priviledge osf fishing some of these waters. I well remember a very good lake that it was possible to catch 6-8 carp a day from using a light scattering of peanuts. Then a few idiots realized that they could catch more in a day (maybe 8-10) if they put in more peanuts, eventually this turned into people putting in 20lb of peanuts for a days fishing. That amount of peanuts is not good for the carp (there are some seriousissues with peanuts as a carp bait which I will go into if anyone is interested) and some of the carp started dying with undigested peanuts in the gut tract. Beacuase of these few who needed to catch 2-3 more carp a day the club rightly banned the use of peanuts (unfortunately the did it by banning all nuts and seed baits other than canned corn and hemp - used by the match anglers). The same thing happened at "club" waters all over the country ith all sorts of things.
As usual it is the idiots that spoiled it for the majority.

Keith, you picked a good area for waters there eh!
Now I know where the tackle tart in ya stems from.
All the best

Moi a Tackle Tart - surely not?

Ant - I was born in Gloucestershire but left at 6 weeks (parents were in the Air Force), did not come back until I was 9 then left again after 4 months for 2 years. When I eventually settled down in England I lived in Kent (about 10 minutes walk from Horton Kirby). Later moved to Camden Town from where I fished everywhere in the south of the country
-
For me as a Brit it was accidentally catching a carp of 6lb when fishing the village pond (every village in England used to have a village pond and village cricket green in the old days) with my grandfather this was over 35 years ago when I was 9 years old and spent the whole summer liing with my grandparents.

Looker - welcome to the mad addicted world of carp fishing, it's all, downhill from here

That's the ones - however Nigel prefers not to ship to the US as the currency conversion and shipping means he makes next to nothing on the bags. Prices will however be comparable.
-
I should have stock in place in the next 3-4 weeks at most. he web page with costs etc will be up before then and you can order in advance (which will make my life much easier) so I know how much to get in stock
-
This is what they look like fully loaded

The bags are the ones I am just getting set up to sell from a guy who makes them in the UK. I will be sure and let everyone know when the page is available for sales of the bags over here as he is not really set up to sell anywhere other than in the UK. Jules, Hollywood, Sonc and I have been using them for a year now (first time for me was at last years ATC.
-
And if there is quite a bit of current you want to make sure to get the bag to the bottom before it melts so a couple of rocks may be in order.
I really wish I knew exactly how fast it melts too since there are a couple of deep holes I'd love to bait up and fish but no one will even offer a guess if the stuff will deal with 40 or 50 feet of water and hit the bottom intact.
Newt - the distance bags (larger) that I am using can stand being cast then retrieved and recast without breaking up so I would guess that getting down to 40 feet would not be a problem.
-
Try some maize, corn flour, powdered milk, broken up boilies, pieces of bread. Do not use condensed milk as it wll melt the bag before you can cast, liquids you can use are oils (light olive, sesame and peanut work well)

Did you want me to answer that question?
-
I will email you some of my 32 and us posing with the award (post event) when I get home this evening. We did not take any other pictures (too busy hauling on Friday and nothing to photograph Saturday)

PS, check out what I have written so far on the event at http://www.angelfire.com/ma3/carphuna438/2003ATC.html I still have some work to do, and plenty of pics to add, but its a start....thanks Keith.
Looks pretty good and much like my report will be (except mine will be in NACA before I put it on the web) Just run the spell checker over it before you make it too public as I noticed a few spelling mistakes.

Scott wanna bet that Stoli on there not being a carp (not buffalo) larger than 50lb coming out of Austin before the end of this year.
By the way all of Richards 40's were female - just not the fat pig females that the high 30's/low 40's were, these fish have the frame of a 40 and if they built up a couple of years of spawn may be able to hit 50lb. I agree that 2002 was a really good year for Town Lake, but disagree in that 2004 could give up a huge fish, I believe it could be several years before Town has another 2001/2002 year, with the right conditions it could be 2005/2006 at the earliest.
Tal, Phone and Scott - I agree that thirties are still big fish but don't feel that Town is any better than other waters in other states for that - heck I had 5 thirties in 4 weeks last January from a 100 acre shallow lake out here in CA. Santee - down near San Diego - has given up as many thirties per angler in the last 12 months as Town, Perris has given up 2 30's to two anglers in 6 days total fishing so the surface has not been scratched there yet (bonus with these waters is they are fishable all year).
Hope your Secret Southern Syndicate Stillwater works out for you Tal

Koi - comes back to what I have been saying since my first visit last year that these fish are not as big as they appear to be given the average sizes. Most of the real biggies from last year looked to me like they were carrying a lot of weight from spawn - none really looed like they were much better than mid 30's in "normal" states. Although the TX guys have been touting this water as a "big" fish water I seriously doubt (and have done all along) that there are any fish in there with genuine weights in the mid 40lb range. There may be a low 40 sneaking around somewhere in the lake but as I also hold to the theory that the larger fish in US lakes always seem to be caught early in the cycle then it is just going to be a chance happening.
I think Town Lake is a very good mid to high thirties water that when the fish are full of spawn may hold some mid 40's.

Since I was asked I have created a page with the top 20 fish overall and each day here:- Biggest fish from the ATC 2003

You need to learn the Kahoolie Carp Dance to be able to catch anything over 35lb.
