I think you must be referring to the victorious RI-MA-NH-OK team?

Our new NH State Chair, Rob, was the hero of the day catching 3 lesser fish in the latter stages to overtake Mike Dragone's 20-pounder from earlier in the day.

I managed my usual score of - absolutely no fish at all - but it was a very enjoyable day with warm weather and genial company.

I hope that you will be back on the team next year? It was a bit lonely being the sole MA participant! :o

Will try and post some pics later.

  2. Bring knee boots... depending on the swim it might be necessary to set up rods or net fish while standing in the water. It is quite shallow so knee boots should be fine.

Steve Clow and I cleared out a couple of swims this morning to make them more comfortable and while doing so saw several carp jump... so fingers crossed for some tight lines!

    Will do Iain.

A reminder to any NEYC participants who are also taking part in the Fall Big 4 to print out and bring their "Logo" tomorrow. This pond has a history of turning up big fish from time to time.

  3. Hello All,

New Yorkers Bob Hall and I are planning on coming. Not sure who we will fish for. I guess we could fish for the highest bidders. :0).

Has it been decided where this event will be. We are looking forward to fishing the Conn. river and meeting everyone....

Look forward to meeting you on the 4th. All we need now is a participant from VT or NJ to sign-up and we'll have representatives from six states.......which I suspect would be a record for the NEYC!

    Iain.

  4. Hmmmm.... Looks like MA is seconding all the other states to give them a fighting chance!

Is it that obvious, Iain? :)

Seriously......we can always shuffle a few warm bodies around should we end up with any imbalances. The only problem is that if it came to a vote you'd probably end up having me on your team.......given my consistent blankmeister status over the last several years.

  5. Hi Folks

As of today I have the following listed as confirmed (or potential**) participants for team RI-MA Carp Chasers on October 4th:

    Bob White

    maninblack **

    401_KoCarp_Clark

    Donald Low

    Liam **

    Lefty

    daphne forster

    pickerd

    redcoat.......

...........but more are always welcome. As this year's venue is looking like the CT River (in CT) it would be great to have Josh and some of the other guys from Western MA turn out and give us the benefit of their "big river" experience.

    Regards,

    Iain

  6. What was the reason the Big 4 and Discovery couldn't be held simultaneously?

Maybe even run through a 90 day window? Sept 1 through Nov 30? Seems like longer accommodates(more opportunities) more of us anglers rather than just 30 days?

Maybe something to consider for '16?

Fine.........just so long as we formally rename it as the "CAG-Big4-Discovery-Divorce & Unemployment-Challenge" :titanic:

  7. I may have been daydreaming........but I seem to recall seeing a recent BOD thread discussing potential changes to the timing of future CAG Big 4 and Discovery Month events?

If so, I'd be interested to learn if any decisions were made?

    Thanks.

  8. OK...lets try that again with brain engaged!..........

Many thanks to all who turned out on the Merrimack yesterday. It was great to have so many attending with participants from MA, RI and NH making the trip.

Congratulations to those who succeeded to land one or more fish (Donald, Lefty, Liam, Rob, Bob and Jason). As for and those of us who didn't quite manage it (Will, Todd, Franky and his brother and, as usual, your humble SC)........our time will come!

Thanks also to Eric (ermghoti) and his girlfriend, who dropped-by for a chat and ended up staying for several hours, and to Franky's dad and Jason's mom for driving them to-and-fro.

    Let's get together again soon.

  9. OK Folks.

Swims have been baited with a few gallons of boiled maize (and a scattering of tiger nuts) which will hopefully draw in some fish before we arrive tomorrow. It could be a hot day so bring your sun-block......though shoreline trees will offer some respite.

Also, if anyone has Crocs (or other waterproof footwear) please consider bringing them as it will help with landing fish in some of the spots.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

    Iain
