  1. I think I remember reading a couple of years ago that the IGFA considered any fish caught with a hair rig to be foul-hooked as well.  :D

    Buzzbomb. That's pretty comical.

So if you use a hair-rig to add a piece of carp-food to your hook it doesn't count but if you forget to put on the bait (i.e. use a HAIR-RIG FLY) it does!! :D

Sounds like maybe some of these IGFA types should get out more. :D

    Iain.

  2. Mark my words, and you guys will understand what I am speaking of with the next NACA...  :D

    Hi Partner

Is that the NACA where you tell them about the new "compulsory soap-flavoured boilies" ATC rule for all teams except those consisting of one French and one UK ex-pat both currently residing within 15 miles of Fenway Park?? :D

    Iain.

  3. Iain, ,

Didn't realize that you were from SALEM

    Hey Fellow Cagers,

got to be careful with this team.....they might "sic" a witch or two on us :D  :D  :D

but then again the only way they can really win is with a little MAGIC!! :D  :D  :D

    Neil

I'm gonna have to quit this. Between you and Scott all our secrets will be laid bare.

Yup. I'll be wearing my Witch City tee to hex the opposition. Plus my partner is from Arlington (and casts no shadow)! :D

However, when we win it will all be down to WATER not WITCH craft! :D

    Iain

p.s. Watercraft is UK carp mag BS for "Wise after the event." :D

  4. Oh Iain,

I heard that too, only it was with the American teams :D

and, Pizza is NOT trash food!! :D GOOD STUFF!!!! especially in the Northeast !!!

    Neil

NE? You mean like Bowie County?? :D

Truth is I'll eat pizza with anyone. Win, lose or draw.

    Even anchovies!

My partner, being more refined, however, may require petit fours and a bottle of fine Chablis (Circa 1997. Cool but not cold i.e. around 51.8 degF). Can the local liquor store oblige or should we just head for Margharitas at Trudi's Lone Star?

    Scott

275:1!! If those are fixed odds I'm in for $10. Plus you of all people should know that the pizza comments are a blind and that Airforce Bob needs no partner. He can do it by himself. It would be fun to see him team up with your best-bud Tony though. :D

Anyway, when my partner piles in with heavy duty "voix d'ordures" you'll be revising those odds bigtime!

ps. Why aren't you at work like me?

    Iain

    8)* Jackie Carruth and ????

9)* Mihai a Aciu Negra & Bogdan Bucur

    Hey Neil

Looks like you got #1 right. Didn't know you were psychic! :D

Word on the street is that the entente cordiale boys are gonna kick colonial ass/cul! Does that count as trash talk?? :D

If not, there's always pizza. See you in March.

    Iain

  6. Iain,

go to main page, in the left hand column, you will see ( about 5 lines down) "SPECIAL CAG EVENTS" click on that puppy, and you're there !! :D

    Jerome as a Partner???????? :D  :D  OH MY GOD !!!! :D

Look forward to having you with us !!!!

and I wish you good luck !champion.gif

    Thanx Neil

I'm a dummy. SPECIAL is the key word! I missed it 'cause my forum "bookmark" is one level down from the main page so I was looking in CAG events. Any suggestion that I do this so I don't have to be reminded that teenage girls catch bigger carp than me each time I log-on is way out of order! :D

    See you in Austin.

    Iain.

p.s. Jerome only wants me for my fish-spotting skills. He doesn't realise that it only works on mirrors in small Parisian lakes!

  7. 5,4.3,2,1, BLAST OFF !!!!!!

ATC registration forms, Rules, and Hotel information is now on the main page under CAG EVENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!jump31.gif

It is? I can't find it Neil.

Anyway, in celebration of 100 years of the "entente cordiale" Jerome and I will be there........just as long as he stops going on about Napoleon!

    :D

Really looking forward to meeting lots of you folks in the flesh instead of just via cyberworld.

    :D

    Iain.

  8. Nah Mate, that one's a mere shrimp!

    :D

Check out the Monster Lobster documentary done by National Geographic if you get the chance. They have film footage (clawage?) of a high-twenty lobster wandering around in the Gulf of Maine. Supposed to be over 40 years old.

    Iain.

  9. Congratulations! Sounds like a great family day out.

OK Edith, Valentin, Alexis and Felix. Next time Jerome takes you fishing I want you all to concentrate very hard on the idea of catching a BIG carp until you eventually enter a meditative state. To help with this process (and to "stimulate" the netman) you should chant the following mantra:

    "32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, 32lb 2oz, etc........................"

I'm sure this will have the desired effect. :D

    Iain.

  10. Tony

This is a genuine photo of a known big European common carp...
    Big Buffalo
Time when caught: May (of 2004?)

Lake: Ferrises Lake (Where is this lake located? Paylake?)

    Angler: Dale Varner

    Weight: 62.7 LBS

And there was me thinking only the Brits did that sort of thing! Gives a whole new meaning to the word "traficant" doesn't it?

    :D

    Iain.

  11. Iain.

Come on man???? Went back to school?

Schools out at three. Either that kids whacking it hard 24 - 7 or hes a fake!! You cant find time to post once during the school yr?

    HELLO????

Elections over and so is the ODDBALL!!!

Didnt BUSH win? Where is that gloating punk???

Read between the lines like a Conservative my friend!!!! Stop living the liberal dreams!!

    Way harsh!!

    Excuse me.

    Rob

Guess that'll be a NO then?

    .....and you usually so vocal.

    :D

    Keep on catching.

    Iain

  12. Its fixed. Just like the ALCS!!  :D

Come on man. He wanted to save on shipping costs!!!

    Rob

Of course it's fixed........how else am I going to hit Scott for hot tips now he's gone lo-publicity?? :D

    Iain.

p.s. Royal Mail assures me that it costs the same to ship UK to MA as UK to CA........but more to Hawaii!

p.p.s. Now I did what you asked and told you the weight don't you owe me a pm? I'm genuinely intrigued. Absolute discretion assured.

  13. no way..... :D Its a massachusetts conspiracy :D    quick scott go play the lottery  your on a roll  first those sox people  and now this congrats

I'm with you there Mark. I was amazed (gobsmacked in UK parlance) when Scott came up so close with his guess. I even E-mailed Roy to ask if he'd been talking to anyone about our French trip! :D

I guess the Big Carphuna has just been up close and personal with too many fish? We're all still working out tactics to stop Scott winning the NE CAGI again in 2005. :D

Still, you can't blame MA too much.........after all the REALLY big one got away! :D

    Iain.

  14. Hi Folks

Herewith the stats for the competition to "Guess the Weight of My New PB":

    49 members posted entries.

The highest estimate was 42lb 5oz by simoncarp.

The lowest estimate was 22lb 5oz by kidcarp.

The most fence-sitting participant accolade goes to Rough Fisherman (Jim C) who correctly suggested that both fish were more than 1lb and less than 100lb. :D

Four entrants (Bill D, Tommy Robinson, louis and Phil GB) thought the common was bigger than the mirror thus proving that I take a much better carp photo than my buddy Roy! :D

Nobody guessed the exact weight of the mirror but ten entrants guessed within 1lb of the correct weight of 37lb 3oz. The Tie-Break Common caught by Roy went 27lb 6oz.

    These were (in descending order)....

    10. buster 36lb 3oz -16oz

    8 (joint). Jerome Moisand 36lb 4oz -15oz

    8 (joint). Gefilta Fisher 38lb 2oz +15oz

    7. kenwas 38lb 0oz +13oz

    6. carpmaster15 36lb 7oz -12oz

    5. Colin Peters 36lb 8oz -11oz

    4. Mark the Shark 37lb 9oz +6oz

    3. phonebush 37lb 8oz +5oz

    2. Paul Swider 37lb 6oz +3oz

    1. And the winner and top carp-guesstimator with a guess of 37lb 4oz (only 1oz above the actual weight of the fish) is..............Big Carphuna!

Special mention to Paul Swider who also made the best guess for the tie-break common at 27lb 4oz (-2oz) in addition to coming second in the competition. He's clearly your man if ever you find yourself in that awkward "camera but no scales" situation. :D

Many thanks to all who entered. Hope it was fun. Now I just have to go out and catch a bigger one.

    Iain.

p.s. Scott. PM me about the Delkim.

    :D
