  1. Yeah i figure the blob was off lol' I meant just take the blobs off all of them and just see which ones are the most sharp. The other ones keep and sharpen with one of those hook sharpeners. It really cracks me up when danny fairbrass says he just throws them away' ummm danny we arent rich lol.

    To Danny they are just a Tax write off.... but it is a different game of soldiers in the UK / Europe, 40 takes / 30+ fish, in a day, are very few and far in between, even for the super heros.

  2. i have several packs of the zig bugs but have not used them yet because i am mainly fishing on rivers with a fast tow and i doubt the presentation would be good, however, on lakes they are deadly and i know both alan, kevin and ronny (the main guys at nash) swear by them and actually put them out first before boilies etc.

    So are the "main Guys at nash" fishing in the US now or are we comparing apples with oranges.. Bluegills, largemouth and crappie are a different can of worms so to speak than roach, bream and tench...

  3. I'd agree with Alex, a lot of driftwood coming down with the current on the main river side also quite muddy, and it is a lot shallower.. Craig might swear by that side but most will fish looking across to the Anacostia in the deeper water of the channel.

  4. Hi,

    I am from the UK but will be spending a lot more time in DC for the next year or so.

    I wanted to know the best carp fishing areas around the DC area and any rules/reg I should know when fishing in the USA.

    From research the Tidal Basin seems to be a good carp spot but I had a few questions;

    4. Is night fishing the Basin possible and safe?

    You will not be able to set up any biviy or the like, stealth would be the way to go if you really needed to, bugs can be a pain during the summer they love English blood. The main issue in the basin area is parking, none from 1am - 5am so if you don't mind being dropped off and taking a chance feel free but typically you can get plenty of fish by just fishing for the evening / till midnight etc and then repeating a few nights in a row or every other evening so that the bait gets introduced consistantly.. Have fun it's just getting to some of the better months of the year for around here.

    Is the Basin a popular carp lake with fellow carp anglers I can socialise with? Probably your best bet to start with....

    Also can you advise anywhere to get a complete carp setup locally to DC or good online retailers?

    Only online for carp specific items ....

    I've heard its expensive to purchase carp gear in the US so it may be easier for me to ship my gear from the UK

    Spend some time online and it's not so bad but if it's something shipped from the UK then it may be slightly increased given shipping costs which may not offset VAT removal.

  5. Lol, I have done that once with a 13ft rod. Sucks big time! :bigsmile:

    Well done, extreme angling!

    This will shock no one..... I've been there done that both in the UK and here in the USA, last resort, and definately not to be practised unless you are a strong swimmer, with a life jacket/ PFD, and preferably a pair of fins .. even the smallest of carp can tow a person around with no trouble.. Great job just be careful.. :-)
