Bob pulls thorough again! Thank you!

Great story and that spot looks pretty sweet!

Congrats to all and a good showing from the fish (for the most part) in some wicked current.

Good session

Everyone gets carping dogs but they can't carry anything. A couple saddlebags and little Larry can carry bait!

Luckily I was packing up when they came. There was three of us fishing and we caught more than everyone did during the tournament. Location, location, location

If I was in Illinois I'd come up to help bring the trophy home. Maybe I'll look at plane tickets

I bet that the balance is great.... Lol

Looks like fun! Definitely a different format

Great to hear! Congrats!!

the double whammy is amazing

with the way you set it up Matt, the hook being so close to the weight and sitting on top of the pack the fish has very little "play" in the hook length so it sets the hook very very quick. the longer the hook from the lead the more the fish can get away with. ive done decent with fishing popups right off the lead about 2-3in.

If everyone is willing.... we can switch the venue to one here in Southern CA... it's going to be in the mid 70's on sunday

i started using "snug" silicone sleeves like Kevin because i ran out of rig rings and wanted to keep my bait in anchored towards the bend. its nice to know that i wasnt the only one with that idea. the way he explains the effect of it is awesome!

Bait in the hook has probably caught more fish than a hair rig over time. I've caught a lot without a hair. My personal preference is a hair rig because I like Tinkering with it. I've had days where the only thing that would produce was a couple kernels of sweet corn on the hook. Better to be adaptive and open minded than stuck in the same place.

Welcome to the forum! Let's help the fellow Marine out guys.

Welcome! Michigan has a lot of good folks. Good luck!

Looking good! All the fancy gear doesn't meant you'll catch more fish!

Easy answer... Don't use line
But in reality world; perhaps the double lead during the day and as night falls you could do the bank stick if the boaters go away.

Great to hear!

Time has come for some fishing and hanging out. I started doing something for work that will give me a lot of free time since my deployment to Afghanistan got cancelled. Lets get something organized in Socal and catch come fish. Need suggestions for venue, etc...
I am also interested in Martinez lake in AZ. There is a military resort that has cabins on the water on the north side of the lake. Might be good for a weekend trip. It's about 35 miles north of Yuma.

Wish I could make it! I'll try to be there for next year.
