I used to use foam in the 90s to balance maize on the hair. It definitely holds flavors well.

I try to put my flavored fake corn back into its flavor when I'm not using it. The enterprise stuff holds its flavor for an amazing amount of time, days to weeks of being out of liquid.
That being said sometimes there just isn't a replacement for real sweetcorn.

Great post! I would agree that using the sensitive method you do will always get more bites as opposed to us ledger minded anglers. I think the same for float fishing as it's another sensitive method. A lot of people who have never tried feeder or float fishing are missing out on learning tons about how carp feed and act. There's a reason some of us will hit on a single beep from the bite alarm!

Great fish! Congrats on the PB

I've known him for a long time and it's the first picture I have seen of one from the states. I'm sure they've been caught before though.

Larry, I thought I would just give someone else the chance to win. Lake storey is one of my "home" waters so I didn't want to win everything

I'm not going to make it this year. The wife setup a anniversary trip from us in Colorado during the CCC weekend.

Looks like everyone had a good time and a good turnout. Congrats to the winners and thanks to the organiser.
-
Wish I could have made it!

Missing another one! If any of the stewards read this my advice is to NOT drink until you pass out after the first day. It makes the second day hell.

There's a great group of carpers in Ohio that I'm sure will get in touch with you. Welcome to the club!

Wow... Very very sad day. RIP Sam

Amazing fish. Congrats

We're taking our five year anniversary honeymoon in Colorado. The wife snuck the dates on me before I knew it lol

That's completely true. I try not to judge anyone's fishing but my own. I use inline leads most of the time unless I see a need to drop the lead on purpose like fishing in heavy weeds. There's times where I use a running rig as well. If your rig works then keep using it however people will give you flak because it's a "death rig" and not proper, if there is such a thing, Don't take it against CAG, it's just people personal preference.
Tight lines!

It comes down to that the lake owners paying top dollar for their fish and lake management that they want to keep them as safe as possible.

The one I posted has a shock bead to give the effect of a running rig with a bolt rig. The purpose behind dropping the lead is so the fish doesn't drag it around. It became the norm in Europe because years ago they found some dead carp with rigs with leads attached that were caught in snag Having a swivel about the lead will cause the lead to stay attached if the line above the swivel snaps.
-
I put it out there on Facebook a couple weeks ago. Didn't get any hits.

Check out the semi fixed section. Notice the "shock bead"
No reason to get into a pissing match over who's rig is better.

Slimey on here is an old Marine as well. Well definitely get time to fish together.

Make sure to stop in and see Paul P at Wacker baits sometime he had tons of info on the area.

There's great water all around Illinois. I'm finishing my tenth year in the Corps and coming back to Illinois (Bloomington address) next month. You'll meet some great guys at that event. Welcome to the club.

I use weights between 2-4 ounces depending on current if I'm in a river. For lake fishing I use a weight that allows me to cast to the distance I need, normally 2-3 ounces

Tony I would take issue with the conservation officer however that is just me. I always like to be well versed in the local regulations so I quick search for Georgia I found the 2015 definition of artificial lure as follows:
Any lure which is made completely of natural or colored wood, cork, feathers, hair, rubber, metal, plastic, tinsel, styrofoam, sponge, string, or any combination of such materials, in imitation of or as a substitute for natural bait. This does not include any item sprayed with or containing scented or chemical attractants.
Seems that plastic corn falls 100% into that category. Again I smartly "pick fights" when it comes to carp angling when I feel I am right especially when the regulations say I am. Might be worth printing the regulation artist from the book to have on your side.
