I had a private smile when I read this. You & others probably wouldn't know, but this so called "shocka trick" has been around for generations, at least in Europe. I used it myself in the 60's. It was simply done with a BB shot behind the sliding lead. I remember this practice was considered "unsporting" and banned from use on some club waters in UK. But remember, this was before the big shift to carp fishing where we use any "cheating methods" as per normal.
that is awesome, i have seen all the video's using it i have yet to try it out myself but it makes perfect sense as to it working,
rachael, you can use a bead and not a sinker to get the "shock" affect. and you still can use a safety clip, just use a smaller swivel or a speed clip.

I have to agree with Alex on this one. I use running rigs for probably 95% of my carp fishing. I usually fish tightline and don't feel compelled to sit on top of my rods. The baitrunner on the reel does its job just fine and there is no need to whip the rod up to hook the fish if you are using good, sharp hooks. It will hook itself. The weight still comes into play, as most fish don't creep along with the mouth directly on the bottom the whole time (see Jerome's vids); they tip up periodically.
You can try a semi-fixed rig (a running rig with a stopper a little ways up the mainline from the lead) if you want to split the difference between a running rig and a bolt rig.
rachael, i am actually going to be using this a bit this year, i believe korda videos called it a shocka rig, i have tied two poles up with this set up and i really like the concept.

ok let me tell you this much, i have a mirror that is almost a pound now, YOU CANT KILL THEM...ha, you dont need a bunch of mubo jumbo if your going to house carp. NOW be careful they do grow way faster than people think, you will need a nitrate sponge system cuz carp poop a bunch. i have taken my carp from a tank to put in new bigger tank, filled it with straight tap water, put carp in and she is fine 7 months later. they are very very hardy. you dont need to cycle a tank for more than 4 days.

Let me make it perfectly clear that I am here on my own volition representing my own views and not those of JaguarPC in any way shape or form.
As you might expect I have an interesting take on Mr. KingOfCarp's actions in my role as a volunteer moderator of the JaguarPC forum, and as the owner/operator/moderator of a few forums myself.
What Mr. KingOfCarp managed to do was to fan the flames of an already tense situation. His use of foul language and efforts to upset the forum membership, including allegations of favoritism didn't speed up anything at all; such yelling and screaming and carrying on would never have accomplished that at a reputable webhost such as JAG. The PMs he sent likely did not accomplish a thing but annoy the people upon whom you were depending and now depend upon to provide you with service and support, and potentially (but not likely) take them from their tasks to get the server back up and running.
You may want to meet him for a beer, but I've always found I can tell more about a man's character by the way he treats people who are working for him, rather than the people he'd like to impress. Louis was a perfect gentleman.
Good luck folks... I hope all of our servers continue to run fault free.

you know at first i was going to think i was going to be upset about this post but really im not. had this fellow stepped up at the time of crisis instead of now and defended themselves and explained what was going on then there would have been no need to be upset.
secondly i never outright cursed, using words with symbols technically is not cursing. qualifying as fanning flames? you hope not? you came here after the fact and stirred up an already dead thread, no comment.
i will only say this sir "ron". If you were in our shoes or let me rephrase that, if you were in MY shoes , you would have been upset also. Lets look at the facts a bit, i wanted answers, I got none. do i feel i deserved answers, Yes. If i hurt your feelings i will man up, sorry.

Bill--Your response (above) is genuine and well thought. I appreciate your taking the time. In addition and based on some of the ensuing posts in this thread, the way you communicated with Jag/JPC has support. I guess you and I can agree to disagree about how you handled the matter, but please know that I still admire your willingness to help resolve the server issue.--Frank
Frank, Thank you. the funny thing with this internet stuff is words are just that, typed words, those things i said on JPC's site would never come out amongst friends here. i didnt take anything you said to be angry or never did i even get upset. i know from business and personal relationships that not everyone is going to like or agree with things i do or say. Now on the other note. we need to meet up somewhere and fish.

I'm either going with the conspircy theory or the idea that "Jag" (whoever that is(?)) did it on purpose cause they didn't have any other way of justifying having to come to work. I mean, who would want to be able to go fishing every day and pickup a check on friday for running "whatever it is jag does for us". Jag probably did it on purpose.

I didn't read those threads. I can barely turn on my computer. I have no idea how I am able to "communicate" with other CAG members on a computer. I can't even make those little smiley faces work.
I do know what "offensive" means - giving painful or unpleasant remarks that cause displeasure or resentment. Your posts on the fourm don't reflect that is a part of your nature. Even without reading "those threads", based on your contribution on CAG, you have my support and heartfelt thanks for playing "any role" in getting up back up and running.
I doubt your contribution helped. It was really a conspircy by Louis.

Bill--Apparently, your definition of "offensive" and my definition of "offensive" are substantially different. I thought several of your comments on the JPC forum were way out of line. Nevertheless, I appreciate your response to my post. Although I may have an issue with the way you communicated your frustration, I greatly appreciate your loyalty to CAG and your efforts to get the server issue resolved. Thanks.--Frank
i can kind of understand where you are coming from, but keep in mind that i was also PM'ing different members of their staff who would all tell different sides of the story, i also spent countless hours trying to figure out what it was that was really going on. I am a upfront kinda person, i dont sugar coat anything. i also dont lay off someone in fears of offending them when i think they are wrong. by no means do i feel i have hurt the club nor do i think i have embarrassed us. first off only maybe 7 people would have even known about this had i not said something here. i just wanted our members to understand that louis was not just sitting around waiting on something to happen. i was not speaking for him nor was i speaking for CAG, i was simply venting my frustrations to those that were responsible for my boredom. Nuff Said..

When I first read your response to Iain, Louis, I was happy to see that you had someone willing to help you "encourage" Jag to resolve this matter more quickly. I do not know Bill, and I appreciate his zeal and his generosity; but after reading that thread, I am embarrassed and concerned that CAG was represented in that manner. I respectfully suggest/request that you choose CAG's spokespersons more carefully. There are more effective ways to motivate action and to communicate frustration. --Frank
are you kidding me? i am not CAG's spokesperson nor did i speak in that manner, i simply told them how frustrated i was that they were milking the situation. never did i mention CAG or anything of the such, i simply tried to get answers when none were able to be given, also, if you were involved you would have realized that the only people who were noticed on that site were those people who spoke how they felt, the first three sites back up were the ones who voiced their opinions loudly. I did not speak forked tongues or anything i did not directly type anything that was offensive IMO. I am sorry if you dont feel like i handled it properly but simply put, i put my .02 in.

Sorry......but on what basis do you get to act as CAG's "server" cop? Maybe I missed a BOD vote or something?

well I like i hope others would do, was standing up for what i know was unfair treatment for a paying customer, i have seen these things happen before and servers are restored at most two days out. If you want to have an "official" server cop, vote me in....LOL'
i would just hope more were as concerned.

well i have set my DVR to record any show with the words in-fisherman, it appears to me that here in ohio you get three different types of in fisherman on three different channels. i got the series set for all of them so i hope i dont miss them.
