This is an excerpt from Today's Story. If you'd like the whole story (including pictures) shoot me an e-mail address through the PM.
My Story
I had a pull down on my light rod shortly after Tom and I got set up. I knew upon initial contact that this was going to be a PB (Personal Best). When this grand Golden Ghost charged across the Hooch and rolled on the surface across the river I knew I was in for a tussel worthy of a tale tale. After a long struggle and tension in my wrists and forearms (Symptoms of Carp-Pull Tunnel Syndrome) I quietly brought the 12 pound 3 oz Beauty to the net!
Tom’s Tale
While my fish was still in the net, I caught site of Tom’s rod sliding across the bank toward the edge of the Hooch. If you don’t think this fella can move you are mistaken! Not only did he catch the rod before it went into the drink, but he did it in rare form! One minute he was upright and the next minute he was sitting on the bank crankin’ away! I’m not sure if he dove or fell but had Yogi seen it he might have called it a Hook-Slide! The result was a new standard for the DRCFA King! The bar has been raised once again by King Kilgore! 9 POUNDS, 7 OZS! Long live the King! Long may he reign! If you would like to congratulate Tom you may e-mail him at: TomandCarolK@aol.com
Along with Tom’s best he also managed a 5 Lb, 5 Oz Mirror Carp! A Mirror Carp is a mutation of sorts. It is a Carp with an odd scale pattern or a Carp with many scales missing all together. I saw almost 300 Carp caught last year but I’ve seen only saw one Mirror other than Tom’s.
It was a wonderful afternoon and the memories will last this Ol’ Captain a lifetime

After over two years of Carping I have finally caught a double digit fish! As of today my new PB is 12 Lbs, 3 ozs! I am fired up!
My friend Tom (who is almost 70) and I caught 6 today that weighed a total of 40+ pounds. I have been baiting the area for three days with corn soaked in water, sugar and strawberry/kiwi koolaid. We caught the fish on canned corn wrapped in a piece of white bread.
Thanks for all of your help! Jerome.......isn't 12 pounds more that 10?

Although small by this board's standards, I caught a PB Common today!( I guess that's what makes it a PERSONAL best, huh?) I caught it in the Chattahoochee River after work today on a partial slice of balled up white Sunbeam loaf bread! I have been baiiting the area with corn for two days. I am returning after work tomorrow!

This Forum is great for many reasons. I have learned a great deal and have made many friends and acquaintances. But one of my favorite things about the Cag Forum is the pictures! For those of us who don't travel much it is cool to see fishing venues, fish and people who love those places post their pictures and memories. I can't tell you how often I change my desktop picture to view these places that you visit from time to time. With that thought in mind, I'm posting a picture of my recent Dog River Channel Cat for your viewing pleasure!
Thanks to all who bring the world to Lithia Springs, Georgia! Keep 'em coming!

My wife and I will be in the St. Augustine area from April3-10th. Any of you guys fish for Carp down there? I usually surf fish or pier fish when I am there. I will also be fishing a day or two with my brother Dan aboard the ATABABY out of Jacksonville,Fla next Monday and Tuesday. May post some pics under "other fish" if we catch a good 'un!

Jerome:
Great Picture! Of the 280 Carp boated and released last year in Dog River aboard the ALVA D only one was a Mirror. You can only imagine my excitement!

How silly of me to forget the details! Here is the full story:
That’s Entertainment!
Entertainment comes in various forms. Americans spend millions a year on movies, concerts and sporting events. Just this afternoon I was privileged to attend a very exclusive event sponsored by our own DRCFA. Was it expensive? Was it enjoyable? Is it news worthy? I thought you’d never ask……………………
DRCFA history was made today. I was able to witness a very special, very entertaining afternoon on the banks of the Chattahoochee. From 3:45 pm until about 6:00 I was able to attend the one and only…………………
Kilgore Karp Klassic!
That’s right folks, Tom “I’m now the King” Kilgore put on a Carpin’ Clinic at the Hooch this afternoon! In a period of about 2 ½ hours Tom caught a 3lb 2 oz, a 6 lb 12 oz, and a Crown winning 7 lb, 2 oz Golden Ghost to make him the DRCFA’s newest reigning Monarch! For those of you who don’t know our area, the Hooch runs south through Atlanta and eventually spills into the Gulf of Mexico. I think the Hog that Tom caught today must have entered the River somewhere near Kentucky. Why do I say that? I could have sworn I heard her singing as Tom was reeling her in like a professional. It wasn’t clear but I think the song was…”I was born a Gold Minnow’s Daughter”! Now that my friends, is entertainment!
What about the Ol’ Captain?
If Tom caught three then what did I do? We fished in the same spot. We used the same bait. All the variables were controlled. If I could make a movie of my part of the afternoon I’d have to call it…………”Carpless in Campbellton”. It was Tom’s day pure and simple. The Ol’ Captain was skunked once again!
Newly crowned kings need encouragement. Tom has traveled the world. He has had a very successful political and professional career. But (change of direction) this is his first time in his 69 years on God's green earth to be the DRCFA’s Carp King!! Please take time to congratulate Tom at: TomandCarolK@aol.com
I am attaching pics of Tom and his beauty. We are not worthy! We are not worthy! May he reign with wisdom and humility! Long Live the King!!
Until next time,
Keep on Carpin'

69 year old Tom "Mac" Kilgore made history this afternoon by becoming our newest Carp King. Small by this boards standards but it's our best effort this year! If you'd like to congratulate Tom it would mean a lot to all of us. He would love to hear from you. Please let him know who you are and where you are from. I thank you all.
His email address is: TomandCarolK@aol.com
Thanks,

Jerome:
With all respect to you and Scott and in all humility, I have suspected all along that my success had more to do with the fish than the fisherman.
Like an old Indian Chief once said...."me know um how, just want um chance."
I hope you are not disappointed with my attitude. Success can sometimes change a fella. I may not be the gentle humble giant you thought you knew
