Many states have awards programs that include carp. Here in GA, a "kept" (killed) carp must weigh 15 pounds to be entered. But the program also allows RELEASED fish to be entered, and carp -- both commons and grass carp -- need only measure 31" to qualify for an award.
Thanks for posting this Barry and yes indeed the more folk who apply for the catch & release trophy fish awards for carp the better.

Welcome! There are certainly quite a few dedicated Carp Angler’s here in CT. I live near West Hartford but there a few from your area. I know some have local spots both in the Stamford area & just across the border in NY. I’m sure if you come to the Carp Conference in April you’ll meet up with a few.

Iain, what is your water to cracked corn ratio? I started using cracked corn, and have had decent success using it. I want to step it up a bit. Will it or doesn't take flavor well? I am looking for a different use other than chum. I have an idea and have been shown something recently that has my interest. Thanks.
Water ratio? I just cover it and add more hot water over the next 48 hours to keep it covered. That's it
Yes it takes flavors very well!

PB Jelly Wire (available from BCT).
Check out Frank Warwick's video using Jelly Wire & Long Shank hooks.
I use this rig all the time for particles or boilies (bottom, wafter, snowman etc) and it is super reliable.

The trend towards ‘ultra’ sharp hook points in Europe is focused on one hook for one fish.
I seriously doubt we need to go quite that far over here. Quality Carp hooks out of the packet are sharp enough in my opinion but still need the point constantly checked & restored from time to time.
-
I check my hook point EVERY time I wind in or land a fish. You never know if it has hit a rock etc and dulled or bent the point. I use a small diamond (Orvis or similar) file and it takes second to restore the point to needle sharpness.

Hi Bob,
A number of issues thwarted plans for 2017. if you are willing to host the event in 2018 then go for it. It’s always a lot of fun!

James is a passionate ambassador for carp fishing and will do a great job for/in Indiana. I would only suggest, Iain, that our state chairs are also CAG members (perhaps and probably it's the usual glitch in the forum software, but I see James is categorized as a "Forum Guest."). --Frank
Hi Frank, thanks we clearly missed that! I’ll follow up with James.
