  1. I live 25 mins away. Have friends with property on the lake and have heard tales of monster carp there during the spawn but as Don says it's such a big lake it's a daunting task. Area where my friend has property is a shallow sandy part in the SE corner. Went as far as prebaiting last year but never fished because of weather conditions and no sign of fish afterwards. It's one of those lakes that almost certainly holds a 50lb+ fish but getting them is a major challenge..................

  2. That's been a marathon but congrats on getting it completed. biggrin.gif

Somebody owes you one so maybe it will come in the form of a monster carp. cool.gif

Hopefully we can get together to fish soon. smile.gif

  3. Don's advice is sound and it's exactly the same approach I take. In addition I usually make a point of saying I am fishing for "big" carp rather than just carp and also point out it's fishing for fun not food (even though folks are generally amazed when you tell them why and who introduced carp to the US). Trying to convince the folks who have already made up their minds is pointless.

  4. Hmmm weird "(If we end up meeting there)" i dont get it i really dont feel like coming over early set up and the finde out that we will fish some wher els hmmm you need to make up your mind wher is the fish in going to be and post pictures with some Red marks wher we can set up thank you just do something like Andy did http://www.carpangle...showtopic=45086

Daniel - take a leap of faith! Show up whenever you want in the area where Mark directs. Start fishing anywhere around there and you will not be disappointed. This is not rocket science or baby sitting! rolleyes.gif

  5. Great job Nathan. Nice write up and welcome to the Forum.

I see you are from Saginaw. I am up in nr Gladwin now but was living in Midland up to a couple of years ago. Note if you want to meet some of your fellow Mi carpers there is a fishin down the road in Flint next weekend.

Good luck exploring your pond and don't forget the rivers around you give up some hefty fish. cool.gif

  6. Never fished there but I think the easy answer has to be yes. The Grand river is supposed to hold good carp so any of the parks should be worth a try and Google maps should show where? You would also not be far from Grand Haven which apparently holds some very good fish but unfortunately I don't have specifics? Some of the west side Mi posters can hopefully fill you in better? IF you are going and have time I'd definitely pack some rods!

  7. Sagina Spawn Mode:on

    Daniel,

I saw you other post on weight loss after spawn and know you only caught smaller fish yesterday. I don't know if the questions are specifically related in your mind but on the Saginaw river I think what you are seeing(even though it seems early?) may be more of a function of larger Lake Huron fish (lighter colored) migrating into then back out of the river. The catches then reduce to the generally smaller resident fish. Sometimes of course it's just a crap shoot and you catch smaller fish! tongue.gif
