  1. Good work guys!

Secret baits Austin ohmy.gif. Sounds like you are taking the quest for a new pin far too seriouslytongue.gif.

Anyway remember it's quality, not quantity that wins that race! wink.gif

  2. water temp 65 at lake erie

Well that explains it. 10+ degrees certainly must make a big difference in how active the fish are! ohmy.gif

Looking forward to meeting you at Saginaw and hopefully with water temps more like that! The forecast does look like it's going to help us out in that regard! smile.gif

  3. Well done - looking forward to seeing the pics.

BTW do you know what the water temp is down there on Erie? I went out yesterday all the way over to the Muskegon and didn't get a run all day? Water temp there was only 53F which was same as the Saginaw on Wednesday. Hopefully things will start to warm up in more ways than one now! wacko.gif

  4. 6am? lol if i will make it then i be ther around 4pm

got question how is the water at saginaw never been ther so i wounder if i can bring my bait boat and use it or the waves will be to strong?

As Andy said this totally depends on the wind. Would expect you would to be able to use a bait boat under "normal" conditions. Getting bait out into the channel far out could also be a distinct advantage? I'd bring it along unless it's forecast to be real windy. FYI where we are fishing the river pretty much runs South/North and is about 300yds wide.

  5. Decided to test out the Saginaw yesterday despite the fact it was still in flood at around the 17ft mark - I like a challenge what can I say! rolleyes.gif

River was high with lots of flotsam and jetsam (only saw one beaver dam coming down the river) but still fishable. Biggest issue I think is that it's still only 53F. It was bright and sunny and I fished from around noon until 6pm. Managed to pick up 3 fish - 14lb, 17lb and a small one late in the afternoon. They all looked like resident fish to me but hopefully by the fish in next weekend some of the lake big boys will be in and the river will be back to decent levels? smile.gif

  6. Well not sure about you other guys but I didn't start off too well yesterday. sad.gif

Fished the bay at TC and hooked two fish but didn't manage to land either - must be out of practice. ohmy.gif. Still I saw them both and don't think either were big enough to grace the final board. With all the rivers being unfishable it seemed like a good option but with 50F water and a 30mph + wind most of the time it wasn't too pleasant! bonk.gif

  7. I'll be going but likely will stay only one night instead of two? Would probably arrive Sat when all the good swims have gone - I've got a reasonable record there however with the last pick of swims ....................wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif

Looking forward to it as I was only trout fishing while in the UK but now I'm back I'm itching to get back into carp fishing - appreciate you guys waiting for me in April btw. biggrin.gif

I like Don am thinking positively and believe since it's not a major organised comp this year the likelihood is that we are going to get great weather and conditions cool.gif. Lets face it guys we deserve it !

  8. Don- i think those Saginasty beasties are just waiting for me to come back.....

May be up for an assalt on them next weekend if u are interested?
