BTW, we were looking forward to seeing you that morning. Did you ever make it out?
No, didn't get out on Sunday but did check out a few spots on the River on Saturday. Despite it being a beautiful, warm sunny morning, I only found 2 carpers. They were at one of the very well known secret spots and only had two small fish.

but having the opportunity to fish the FFF still trumps all those small "obstacles
I do agree, Frank. The only really hard part is getting out the door. Once you do that, the fishing offsets the obstacles.
There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

Hey Jerome, you should have a prize for non-fishing wives who show up in nasty weather like this.
NICe going!

Weather took a nosedive... it was 35°. A cold rain hit us... then, the winds came. Sustained winds in the 30 mph range...gusts approaching 50 mph...snow...onslaught of the cold front.
... it was a very enjoyable FFF 2012.
That is now in Wikipedia as the defining example of "non sequitur."
Sunday may have been the first time in 15 years that I was relieved to be unable to fish.

OK, I am in. But I may be fishing one-handed in January so you really should spot me 50 lbs.

Frank, I am trying to visualize fishing with only my left arm. Doesn't seem easy but I hope to find a way eventually. Any suggestions?
Lincoln would be a good place for the FFF. I have also been at Roscoe and Bryn Mawr,Roscoe at midnight and the others not quite at midnight but well before sunup. All three of these places can produce well in the winter including a 30 at Lincoln and many 20s from both Lincoln and Roscoe.

Isn't anyone FFFing in Chicago? Nothing against Joliet but we do have a lot of fish and a lot of anglers in Chicago and there should be something going on.
I, unfortunately, am having rotator cuff surgery tomorrow and will probably have to skip the FFF this year.

However, if some kind soul would care to loan me a landing net and a couple of poles for the weekend I will try to hop on a 'plane with my reels, alarms and bait next year.

You will probably get half a dozen offers - including one from me. Lack of rods and net should never be an excuse.

Great fish and a great bunch of photos!

You are top-of-the-line, Jim. Great idea and it is great of you to take the lead on this.
Thanks.

Jim at Westside has very generously offered to sponsor a trophy for the first fish caught at the CCC. He is also kicking in a bunch more items for prizes.
Nobody has done more to promote carp angling than Jim and Westside - we are thrilled to have them involved in the CCC.

The Arma Mesh is used to enclose the hook bait so digestablity is not an issue. One would not expect it to be injested.
Sausage casings are not very permeable so there would be very luittle leakage of flavor or attractant. And once you start punching holes in it, it would tend to tear easily.

You do have the Mississippi, the Minnesoata and the St. Croix Rivers. All have the "potential" for big fish. Lake Minnetonka is also a good bet. I used to fish there from my mother-in-law's front yard - no thirties but loads of fish in the 15-20 range.

That was a good pod. Assembled and disassembled in seconds and everything fit into the bucket along with my other tackle and bait.
Great pics.
