One of Chicago's top tournament anglers has very gererously donated a $100 Wacker Bait & Tackle Gift Certificate to the CCC. Thank you, thank you Dr. Frank Rink!

I am very pleased to announce that we have another new sponsor for the 2011 CCC. The Hardy, Greys, Chub family of companies has generously offered a Carp Care Package of gear valued at $250. Vist Chub here.
Thanks to Matt Latzo for making this possible.

That is one of the features that makes the CCC fun and it is a tradition we will continue.

A reasonably priced alarm with a built-in transmitter.

2011 License
in IL
Just a reminder, Illinois fishing licenses expire at the end of the month.

Good eye, Frank. That lessens the attractiveness considerably.

That is a great item, thank you Mark.

What is a "Situational Braid"? It is one with the specific characteristics you need for your fishing situation.
Wacker Bait & Tackle is pleased to offer to the carp fishing community, a line of American made, Honeywell Spectra braids with properties you want for the way you fish. Do you need stretch in your line? Need maximum distance? Need a thin line that resists wind knots? Or just need a great all-purpose line?
We have them all!
From now until March 15, 2011 we are offering a special deal. Enter the code FINSDISC in the "Your Notice to Us" box during checkout and we will give you a 10% discount on the second spool and a 20% discount on the third and subsequent spools. Mix and match any combination for the discounts. The larger discounts will be applied to the least expensive items first. So if you buy a 150 yd, a 300 yd and a 1500 yd spool, the 150 yd will get the 20% discount and the 300 yd will get the 20% discount. The discounts will not show up on your order but we will apply them when we process the order.

It is probably not Larry's fault, but the show is now dead. See the story here.

Dale Bowman, Chicago's leading outdoors writer, now has a radio show. "Outside" debuts on WKCC-FM (91.1) at 4:30 p.m. today.
"The live listening area is basically framed by I-80, Manhattan, near Dwight, Watseka and Cedar Lake, Ind. Click here to see the coverage map for the start-up public radio station."

The St. Croix rods are now list on the web site and available for purchase. Check out the New Products section.
The shorter rod is 9' 6", not 9' as stated above.

Just got the St. Croix carp rods a few minutes ago. Both the 12' and the 9'.

Does Dave have the authority to keep the public off public lands/waters? Sure, he can ask participants in his tournament not to prefish but keeping everyone out seems a little extreme. And I don't know if there is any good reason for it.

What expenses are involved with the CCC?

Since most of the work has traditionally fallen on the host State Chair
Not quite true. I did it for many years and I was VP, not state chair, for most if not all of those years. I think it should be discussed in the open, not of the state chair forum. Perhaps a relative outsiuder will be inspired to step up.
