  1. Good analysis, Larry. With this hot weather, the deer are still all full of worms. The meat would be rotten, anyway, before you had a chance to get it to a cool place, but suit yourself. Fourth place doesn't pay anything anyway and there is no trophy--just a medal. Not much for a CCC prize winning pro, but it's all we've got. :P

Big fish Trophy is my target, :o and im on top of that so far!!!

  2. Im to skeered to fish peg 1, with the homeless living in the woods by the mulberry tree.

Peg 2 has my famous snag in that swim

peg 3 Has to many weeds, per Tracy

    peg 4 to many catfish

peg 5 has to many fish in it, its to much work to catch that many fish in one day.

peg 6 to close to peg 5, to many fish

peg 7 all the fish from peg 7 swim down to peg 6 after lunch

peg 8 to many hooks/rigs laying around on the ground, dangerous!!!

Tree #2 best for seeing the most deer, doesn't produce the most but still better and safer tree

    decisions?

    decisions?

    decisions?

    :o

  3. Highs in the 80s and little cloud cover do not bode well for a haulfest at tomorrow's JTF40 Carp League session at Joliet, but we shall see. What are the preferred pegs? Well, here's my order if I had a choice: 8, 1, 5, 4, 7, 3, 2, 6. I know pegs 2 and 6 did well last time, but I still think the other 6 pegs are better, especially as those grass mats subside. On the other hand, pegs 6 and 2 are like end pegs with nobody close to them on their upstream side, so maybe the preferred pegs (based on end peg status) should be 8, 1, 6, 2, 5, 4, 7, 3. On the other hand, pegs 4 and 5 were consistently the best in 2010-11, so maybe it should be 5, 4, 8, 1, 7, 3, 2, 6. How's that for a definite idea about what pegs to pick? Good luck!

    JTF40CL website is here.

Dennis Davis has first choice of pegs. Choose wisely, Dennis.

Assuming everyone will be there by the 6:30 deadline (it's still dark at 6:30, boys), Dennis will be followed by Cory, Rafal, Tracy, Larry, Jim, Mike, and Frank.

  4. Stabbing in Joliet park

JOLIET — Four brothers were arrested after one of them allegedly stabbed a man in Bicentennial Park Saturday.

Brandon McDonald, 31, told police that around 12:15 a.m. he was sitting with his girlfriend near the fountain when he was approached by the Carter family.

Cmdr. Al Roechner said Jonathan A. Carter, 21, homeless; Alphanso D. Carter: 19, of 611 E. Cass St.; Brandon S. Carter: 24, of 311 N. Ottawa St., and Emmanuel R. Carter: 17, of 2219 Jefferson St., were later identified as the suspects.

“Emmanuel asked McDonald why he had called his girlfriend, who was also present, an (expletive),” Roechner said. “All four began to kick and punch the victim before Emmanuel took a knife and stabbed McDonald twice in the chest — collapsing his lung.”

The four brothers reportedly fled to a gray Jeep driven by Emmanuel Carter’s girlfriend while McDonald ran to flag down a passing police officer.

The Jeep was stopped near the park entrance at Jefferson and Bluff streets. McDonald was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and was expected to recover from his wounds.

The Carters were arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated battery and mob action. The woman accompanying them was questioned but released without being charged
