  1. DCL has a lot of gorgeous fish in it. I've had them to 35+, and they have this bronze color to them. Beautiful. Though near the M-D Line, June 2-9 may be hitting the spawn right on. Still, there will be fish hitting somewhere, and 40's are there...

I think that tourney was on Father's Day weekend wasnt it? I remember pre spawn fish?... but could be wrong. I love that place.

  2. The 2nd Annual Miller Park Fall Classic is scheduled for October 14th, 15th, and 16th 2011. It is allowed to set up bivvies and brollys and stay on the bank all night. We will be fishing from Noon Friday to Noon Sunday. Fishing can continue till what ever time the angler so decides. There will be a welcoming package of goodies for all who attend (CAG members for goodies).Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place largest carp (only 1 trophy won per angler and must be CAG member). In case of tie first catch wins over tie. Cookout on Saturday (menu to be determined). If anyone has any tackle they wish to sell bring it along. Illinois fishing license required and 2 rod limit. Miller Park 1020 S. Morris Ave. Bloomington, IL 61701 Fish-On Bill

Bill can you fish out of you car there. You knwo I like easy swims...

  3. Great catch!

I went out on Firday night same area...my first time fishing for them.

new PB for me as well, 65" 31" around est. 93lbs and 37yrs old. Without a doubt the best fight I have ever been in with a fish :o

The guy i fished with would rather it not be posted on the Mi forums but we had 4 total and one bigger than mine.

Hope to have pics this week.

  4. Not personal - I've met some terrific people through CAG.

Not financial - I have a decent job, so the $25.00 is not a big deal.

I initially quit (let my membership expire sounds better) CAG the first time because I no longer saw the benefit of membership.

I was never a big fan of the NACA - (I actually preferred the original publication's style/format better.)

While I enjoy carp fishing, it is not my dream to see it blossom, the way that CAG wants it too. I have always stated that I liked carp fishing in NA the way it was - a small (very small) niche "market". I don't want to see carp fishing participation explode. I rarely, if ever, directed people toward the website when approached bankside.

I participated in several CAG fish ins over the years - in my home state of PA and also traveling to Michigan, New York State, Ohio and D.C. - no membership required for these!

The tackle discounts that used to (are they still???) be offered by several tackle dealers were a definite membership benefit. However, I don't recall ever taking advantage of that on any of the multiple tackle/bait orders that I placed with those dealers. My fault for sure, but I didn't really mind spending what I did. So no big deal being a non member.

I rejoined (3yr deal) at the urging of an old CAG friend (Herkel) who was going to try to run some local tournaments that required CAG membership in order to participate. Sadly, these tournaments never happened. I then paid for an additional one year membership. It has recently, and without notice, expired.

For what I get out of this Forum and CAG in general, I see no need to renew my membership.

FYI - I have purchased CAG gear (several hats & shirts) over the years. Would have liked to purchase another shirt, but I do not like the new design. (no offense to the designer, it's just not my cup of tea for a t shirt design)

I will continue to read/add to the forum as I see fit. Will also participate in future fish ins as they meet my schedule availability. Will even assist the local CAG rep(s) in planning, running events if asked to do so.

I hope this satisfies your inquiry.

    Thank you.

EDIT: added "Thank you." in an effort to keep the conversation civil.

    well said King

  5. ill take a 4x. Still not sure Ill make the event but Im in for a shirt.

Jim if you can cancel mine please do. If its to late just let me know and Ill pay you for the shirt, you can keep it and give it to one of the Indy guys that fits into a 4xl...lol ;)

  6. no big deal but I got a bunch of goose shiat boilies I need to use and thought I might stick a few... Im planning on fishing at range I like it in the desert...lol

please dont get mad as Im looking forward to meeting and hanging out with you guys and would hate to start out with getting my but kicked.

  7. good work...

I spoke to Doug Reed this week and he fished the Mississippi for a couple days this past week and caught twice as many grassies as commons. He was in Southern Il. I know the story about flooding fish farms that lead to them being there but they have to be spawning I think. There are spots here on the Ohio river were you can catch the same type of numbers.

How was the fight on those? One run and done here most of the time anyway...that I remember at least :)
