at the end of an intense day, we realized that my car was stuffed, and fitting matt and all his gear into it would be a challenge. to top it all off, there was a biker rally in town and every hotel for an hour out of austin was booked... we drove from hotel to hotel like this for quite a while....
matt was asleep, so exhausted from fishing for several days wihtout proper rest- that my car's "you left your keys in the ignition beep" made him think his bite alarms were going off.

day 3 - austin- town lake!
finally, we made it to the place. after all this time hearing stories, we sampled a part of the action. matt was there waiting at the "chicken swim" with zach and paul swider. thanks so much to the two of them for meeting us and helping make the trip possible. especially zach, who laid gear and bait on us like he was santa claus.
on this day i caught 5 pb's (if only they were in the proper order) one of which i didnt even get a pic of in the midst of all the other action....
here is a 25:

so for months now, matt, donnie, and i from www.fishguys.org had been planning a freakishly ambitious cross usa tour, which just finised up thursday. matt's new job prevented him from going the full haul, but he was able to meet up with don and i in town lake for a few wild days.
i guess i'll do the whole thing in order, it might take a day or to to finish up all the pics and stories here on this thread.
here we go...

i like snapping turtles. you can actually spot fish for them with minnows.

it says petzl
quite a monstrosity. i got this head lamp form the internet based on brightness. its like a maglight. 4 batteries go in back of your head. you can spot the other side of the lake with the halogen.

so lately you may have noticed, i've been blabbing all about our local reservoir... i recently landed an 18 lb mirror that was the biggest fish captured there. matt had caught the same fish not long ago, which was nice, because we always go fishing together, and we both had the local rez title...
well... friday night donnie (PFG) and i took our ladies to the rez despite terror warnings, and had a very nice night. beers were drank and fish were caught. we listened to the radio, and it was a relaxing party like night that contrasts my usually determined/frustrated fishing style.
anyway, here is the funny part.
becky and i took turns on the fish that hooked up on my rods since she doesnt have a liscense. and she battled one in that ended up being the biggest rez carp ever. 19.5 lbs. so funny. matt, marty donnie and i have spent combined thousands of hours at this place. one summer i fished every day but 3. thats life. also funny, donnie hooked up at the same time on the smallest rez carp ever caught on film. here is the pic
and rose...
and me... (yeah...)
and don...

also, a significant change in water temp in either direction seems to encourage feeding. check out the FFF thread from new yearsfor inspiation. i only caught one fish, but some guys really killed it.
