  1. As a member of PoloniaCarpTeam ( PCT) i was excited for this years NY fish in ..

Lukasz and myself got on place at 440am , too early as sunrise was set at 640am . As all parks in NY they open at sunrise so we had to wait . As soon as i seen first light on horizon i decided its time to go . We took all gear and hola on bank . Lukasz as new member of PCT i let him fish before we started , i wanted to wait for at least one person to start as like that we will all have fair chance .. at around 615-20 am Lukasz got bite on corn , his "marine" style rods and new edge "bells" started to scream and line went off rod fast , i thought that has to be a biggie . After around 3-4 minutes of playing carp was ready for pick up but i didnt take net nor mat , at same time lukasz seen someone walking towards us that made me happy as i knew that had to be one of CAG members and not just any but NY head himself Rob .. I asked him quickly for net and mat which he did really quick dropping his stuff to ground .. First carp of day and first Lukaszes carp in USA .. he was excited and happy like little kid with candy . Pleasant feeling on my side as i was the one who took him fishing ..

After Rob got set we started to fish .. I didnt have any luck for first few hours but Rob was killing it there ... he had 3-4 fish within first hour ... Later on Miguel and one other guy showed up ( i am sorry but i dont remember name ,ill edit it once i find out ;-)) never seen them but was happy to meet new people ..

Now is few of us , plus we are getting more spectators .. People walking around and checking our stuff ;-)

Then it came , hour of nothing , not even bite with wind blowing .. Lite rain and we are still fishing ;-)

IT was time for little chat with new people , thats when i realized another member of PCT is coming , it was Adrian with his dad ..

Our chat was interrupted with run of Rob , as i volunteered to help i took net and got ready to help . Rob played fish like pro and fish was in net when i heard BFS alarm screaming .. i took a look and i seen one of my rods is loosing line quickly and alarms screaming.... I just gave net to next person and run to set hook .

As i set hook i felt strong fish on other side .. i wasnt expecting nothing over 10lb as those were size of fish Rob was catching all day ... After fish was played and ready to get out , Adrian took net and helped me .. We got it out ... nice carp and excitement of not banking this time made me feel even better ..

We tootk it on mat and weighted it ... it showed something over 10lb .. great carp , little bigger then Robs so no winning ;-) ulalal happy very happy

After that few mins and cag member got fish , we weighted it and wrote it down , but then he realized that we have been reading scale wrong and that all fish were actually little bigger , it came out that mine was 11 lb and 16 oz ..

ulala biggest carp i got in that lake ....

Around noon Robert showed up , he didnt fish but came to take a look .. IT was nice to see all people on fishin , meet new people miguel and Cag member ..

Thank you to Rob for fishin , and thank you PoloniaCarpTeam members Adrian , Lukasz ,Robert

  2. http://fishbase.org/summary/Callichthys-callichthys.html

Yea, definitely a Callichthyid. Very cool that it was caught locally! It probably wouldn't have survived the winter because they are native to South America (most species anyway). It was someone's former pet fish, I'm sure.

NY waters are surprising. I once saw a Pacu and an Asian crayfish in Oakland Lake. Never know...

lots of people buy fish and when bored they release them into our lakes ,,, blah .... one of reasons piranhas are illegal in NY ..

  3. With trying to get a permit to over night fish the first hurdle was a certificate of insurance , to get this I would need a firm head count on how many would be attending , I would need the insurance certificate before they will consider the application . I will have a chat with everyone down there next week and try and get a head count.

And try and get this set up for a later date.

On the pre baiting front I will be down there on the Friday around 530 to get some bait in.Laurence will be swinging by aswell.

Just as a side note it is illegal to use a slingshot in the park :-)

Really looking forward to this to kick start the Nj fish in year.

So lets count how many people then ... ;)

    My side 2 people
