  1. I pretty much made up my mind before I went fishin yesterday that I was going to stay as long as it took to chase the skunk away. I got set up at 6 PM & fished 'till 6 AM. At 7.15 PM I got the first fish & after that I had some good action. The only time it was completely dead was between 2 & 4 AM. I'm pretty sure I had a 30 plus hooked. I had him on for what seemed like 20 minutes & he ran me up & down the river several times. I never had him even close to the shore. I finally decided to thumb the drag to get him near but that was a mistake as my line broke right at the swivel. Those lines have been on my reels for a while & have caught a lot of fish. I will put new lines on today.

I don't normally keep a record of the fish I catch but being a night fishin experiment, I decided to do so.

The weights of the fishes as they made their appearence.

    13.10

    14.2

    13.15

    17.4

    18.2

    13.9

    20.4

    15.3

I also lost two other fish. One when I was trying to get my net & one when the line was around one of his finns & he turned to the opposite side & the jerk of the line made the hook come out. Fishing alone at night & trying to keep the fish from getting my other lines can sometimes be frustrating.

  2. Fished with JiggerJim yesterday from 6.30 AM 'till 9 PM. Only had two runs around noon time. The first one was 10.6 lbs & the second one was better at 18.12 lbs. That second one was super carp & fought harder than any carp I have ever caught. At one time I thought he was going to spool me. I thought he was easily going to be over 30 lbs but was very surprised when I weighed him. He was super charged!

We had a mature bald eagle & two imatures around our area all day. They are fun to watch. Our rods were still most of the day & the pheobe fly catchers were using them as a perch to launch their attack on the flying insects there.

  3. Fished yesterday from 6.30 AM 'till 8.30 PM & only had one short run at 11 AM but by the time I got to the rod it was over. JiggerJim had some things to take care of in the AM so he didn't show up 'till around 11 & he also got blanked. Some days ya bite the bear.....some days he bites you!

All I gotta say is I'll be back!!!

  4. Finally got to fish the river here yesterday. Nice cool morning & the water was clear for a change.

Some fog in the surrounding hills.

JiggerJim showed up around 8 AM & a little while later I had a good run.

As soon as I felt the weight of him I knew I had a good one. It took a whie to get him to the net & he was constantly making runs & stripping out line. I was glad to have Jim there for the netting. I am usually by my self & some times it can be difficult. When I saw him in the net I though for sure he would go over 30 lbs but the scale don't lie & showed 28.4. That't the best one this year so far.

I was real happy with that one. An Eagle showed up for a while & was nice to see him circling around us for a while.

I started the day at 6.30 AM & stayed 'till 8 PM. About 7.45 I decide to start wrapping up when on of my Delks started screaming & I hooked into a 14.11 to end the day.

JiggerJim never got a hit. I only got two fish for the day but was very satisfied.

  5. Fished from 6 Am to 6 PM yesterday. Total landed was nine. Eight decent ones & one dink. Had a lot of short hits all day. They would take out 5 or 6 ft of line & drop it. Could have been small fish. About mid afternoon two mink pups walked right in front of me & one decided to chew on my landing net. I guess he liked the smell left from the last carp I landed. Biggest of the bunch was 19.8 lbs.

  6. Hit a local lake yesterday at 9.30 AM. Got a short run quickly then nothing for about a half-hour. After that the action got better. I landed nine that were worth taking pics of & three that were not. The biggie for the day was 20.6 & that was a good one for that particular lake. I haven't fished for carp after dark & the weather was good for a change so I decided to stay. Zero action after dark so I quit at eleven. All in all a pretty good day. Some pics.

  7. Thanks guys. I always catch a lot of carp at that lake but the majority of them are small. I never counted the amount before but decided to do it this time, Even I was surprised of the total. The small ones are fun too. I know there are some big ones in there, I just got to get lucky. Being able to fish a beautiful lake like that is most important to me. I just love to spend time there. The fish are just the icing on the cake!

  8. Hit the lake shore yesterday morning & when I got both rods set up, in less than a minute one of the Delks started screeming & as soon as I grabbed that rod the other one was screeming too! Another Chinese Fire Drill! I managed to land both of them & they were two 10 lb twins. After that the rest of the day was steady action. I kept a count this time & I banked 28 fish but most of them were small, under 10 lbs like the small ones in my pics. The biggest one weighed in at 17.9 lbs. One of the females was loaded with eggs & weighed 12.14 lbs. The lake had been drawn down about two ft & I had some mud & weeds to deal with. All in all a very good day with perfect weather. Some of the pics.

  9. What source do you use for the reports?

Go to your state fish commission site & click on the biologists reports & you should get a list of the lakes they do test netting & electro shocking & that will give you an idea of the species that are there. Even if the tests are from a few years ago & they have captured some good size carp you can bet there are a lot more there now. All my info comes from the Pa. Fish comm. site.
