  1. How about Joilet Illinois on the Des Plaines River. The CCC was held there a few times before a long time ago. Centrally located, awesome venue, quick bite and a chance at decent fish.

  2. Despite the wind and it being a little chilly, fish were caught and I had an absolute great time up there this weekend fishing with everyone and especially the Michigan guys. You guys really know how to make a person feel like your part of the crew. The Wooden Shoe has become one of my favorite events that I look forward to fishing each year and I cant wait for next year!!

A big thanks goes out to Brandon for stepping up at the last minute and running this. A lot of time, effort and planning goes into running an event like this and it was extremely well ran and put together for a last minute dumped in your lap kind of thing. I really liked the twist you put on it with the randomly drawn 5 pound bonus time block thing. Again OUTSTANDING JOB Brandon!!!!!!!!!! I personally nominate and vote for you to take it over and run it again next year!

I also want to congratulate Austin for putting on an absolute clinic this year and winning it. This kid is a very upstanding young gentleman that knows his stuff and knows how to fish and he's not afraid to share his secrets.

I cant leave out saying congratulations to Darren C. for winning the big fish for this year. See I told you that peg was a good peg last year. You just had to wait another year to catch a fish off of it.:D

  3. As originally posted on Indiana Carptalk by Jim Donlan:::

Adam Jenkins was found dead last night. He was a kind, generous and helpful person. He was one of my best friends. He was an avid carp fisherman and served as CAG State Chair for a while. He will be missed by all of us.

As of now the family has no plans to have a funeral. I was planning to have a wake / Memorial service for him in the Sportsman's Hall on Friday Night at 8:00 pm. Please stop by and share some stories nd celebrate the life of a great guy.

If you have any photos of him please bring them along. His Dog Otis will be there. He is being adopted by Amos Behanna.

  4. After having the Jeep crammed packed full of gear and ready to go when I got home from work today. I am unfortunately not going to make it up there for this. My plans of fishing this event and getting to hang out with the Michigan crew again and the rest of you guys was put to an abrupt halt courtesy of my employer deciding to mail paychecks out this week instead of delivering them to the jobsite I'm working on like normal. So I'm sidelined till I get my dough in the mail.

  5. I tried to get the pictures to show some of the possible swims

It looks farther than 8 to 9 feet from the boardwak to the water. Is the water level down up there??? I took a look at the pics and was wondering how your going to land fish on the concrete boardwalk in some areas even with a regular sized carp net and handle. Are we going to need to bring something longer?

  6. I want to thank everyone that came out to fish this. The turnout was pretty decent (12 teams for a total of 24 anglers) and the class of anglers that attended promised to make the tournament very interesting. Although I dont think the carp got the memo that they were supposed to be there. The whole tournament went without a hitch except for a couple of incedents involving the infamous "HotDog Boat" and another boat that managed to cut more than a few anglers lines and damage a reel or two.

Friday evening started out rainy, windy and a little on the chilly side. But it didnt stop Tomaz Falaszewski and Griegorz Ture - Peg 6 from pulling out to an early lead with right around 110 pounds caught by the first weigh in. On a side note in talking with Tomaz he single handedly caught all those fish within the first three hours of the tournament as his partner wasnt able to arrive until Saturday morning. A big congrats goes out to him for such an accomplishment.

The big fish of 21.3 pounds was also caught in the first 20 minutes of the tournament by Terry McGrew and stood to be the largest caught for the entire 36 hours. It also turned out to be Terry's PB! Congrats on the new PB Terry.

Saturday through Sunday turned out to be rather slow with only a handful of fish being caught scattered amongst the 12 teams. The Big Sucker was landed by Amos Behanna Saturday which stood the rest of the weekend and netted him the sidepot of $150.

Going into Saturday evening It was boiling down for a battle between 2nd place Peg 19 Wegiel Lukasz/Sebastian Myslinski (Team WCB) and 3rd place peg 10 Kenny Keaton/Jathan Imhausen since only 4 pounds seperated the spots. Peg 19 held out to take second as a last ditch effort by Keaton and Imhausen resulted in a fish coming unbuttoned 20 feet fron the bank resulting in a 3rd place finish.

A big thanks goes out to the tournaments Weighmaster, Paige Behanna for giving up her time and making sure every fish was weighed accordingly and all the weigh ins went without a hitch.

A big thanks also goes out to everyone that generously made a donation to the weighmaster fund.

Also a big thanks to Andy Sprinkle for generously donating some of that "GOOD" corn to be handed out to all the anglers.

    Here are the final standings:

    1St place: Tomaz Falaszewski/Griegorz Ture - Peg 6 - 152.9 lbs - $720

    2nd Place: Weigiel Lukasz/Sebastian Myslinski - Peg 19 - 46.9lbs - $540

  8. Ok I have a few important announcements to make concerning this years team tournament. After the not so good response so far, listening to some feedback from numerous individuals and the fact that the consrtuction on the 421 Bridge across the Ohio River is ramping up and more bank space is being taken up by equipment and mooring docks, the venue for the team tournament has changed locations. The dates and times are still the same and so are the rules and regulations but along with the venue change there are a few more changes as well.

I have contacted the Elkhart IN, City Parks Department about having the team tournament at McNaughton Park in Elkhart City IN. Now as most of you know, you are not allowed to fish overnight there and have to be out by dark. However, after the parks department BOD reviewed the proposal I sent, they approved it and gave the greenlight to be able to have the tournament and fish there overnight for the entire 36 hours. They are very excited about having this event up there, so lets not dissapoint them. Also this could be a once in a blue moon opportunity to be able to stay overnight and fish the St. Joe in McNaughton Park. There are defianately 20's in this river and possibly a 30# or two swimming around out there.

There are some stipulations though to being able to fish there during this tournament that everyone signs up has to follow, but before I get to that there are a few more changes as well.

1.) The $100 non-refundable deposit has been changed to a $100 refundable deposit to reserve your team a spot in the tournament. The total entry fee is still $250 per team.

2.) The registration deadline of July 23rd has been changed. You may now pay and register up to the start of the tournament, although it would be nice to have all entry fees paid by August the 8th which is the Wednesday before the tournament.

3.) The biggest Buffalo side pot has been changed to the biggest sucker/quillback side pot. The price to enter is still the same.

4.) The number of allowed teams has changed to 25 instead of thirty which would be way to cramped up for this venue. This should allow for roughly 35 to 40 yards between pegs. Please note there are alot of trees in this park and the pegs may be adjusted to allow for casting if space permits.

5.) The payout has been changed to reflect a 25 team field. This is based on a full field of 25 teams now instead of 30. If there are less than 25 teams the payout will reflect that.

    1st place: $2000

    2nd place: $1200

    3rd place: $800

    4th place: $400

    1st place Big Fish: $400

    2nd place Big Fish: $200

    Now for the stipulations:

The use of Bivvys/Umbrellas/Brollies: Nothing was said about the use of bivvys. However, I am mandating that if you use a bivvy you may only put it up after the park closes at night and it must be taken down before the park opens up in the morning. I am assuming its ok to use sun umbrellas during the daytime but there may be no need due to the amount of shade trees avaible.

Driving to your pegs for loading and unloading: I highly dont reccomend driving on the grass if you can carry your gear to your peg unless you or your teammate has a dissability or cannot walk long distances. There should be plenty of time after the peg draw to be able to carry your gear to your peg and get set up. You may not park your vehicle at your pegged area in the grass, you must park in a designated parking spot.

Other fisherman: Being a city park and a hotspot for bankfishing, please be courtious and polite if anyone fishes inbetween your pegs.

After I receive all the permits and paperwork from the Elkhart Parks Dept. I will post up anything else as far as rules and guidelines that each team member has to abide by if it is stated in the permits and paperwork.

Now lets get the ball rolling and fill up those spots!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a map of probable pegging locations. These are subject to change.
