  1. Ah, that info is right under your forum name. :bonk: I am from Southeast Kansas but am currently in Northeast Kansas. I remember playing in baseball tournaments in Garden City back in the day.

Wow, a Kansas state record grass carp would be close to 80lbs!! Would love to see that beast! I have caught a few over 30lbs in my area and they are a absolute blast to catch. And watch out once you get them in the net, then they really get mad! HAHA! I have caught them on flavored/unflavored boiled corn, range cubes and bread, all on a hair rig. I have also caught them on a variety of packbaits with a corn puff on the hook.

Good luck in your quest! Please have a camera with you and take lots of pics! Love those big grassies!

  2. Decided to take advantage of the amazing weather over the weekend and do a little fishing Sunday.

Fished from 9:15am to around 1pm. Bait was green apple panko/birdseed pack on the puff. Slow day with only 5 fish landed, only had the five runs though so I batted 1.000!

Local sailboat group has their "regatta" on Sundays at this lake and normally it is no issue, this day though, one of the marker buoys was a little closer to the bank. Haha! Oh well, what can you do?

  3. Had today off from work , so headed to the lake this morning. Didn't catch alot of carp but did have one really nice one. Lost track of how many catfish I caught. Was slacking on replacing batteries in the camera so only have a few fish on video. Bait was strawberry flavored panko/birdseed pack on the puff.

    Video from today

  4. Good job on getting the runs on video. I think the most exciting part of carpin is when the alarm starts screaming because you don't know if the fish is going to be 5 lb or 50 lbs!

Absolutely! That little rush of adrenalin that you get when the beeper or drag starts screaming is what keeps us all going back to the water!

  5. Went to the lake last Thursday, set up 2 paylake style setups and 1 "euro" style setup. Bait was strawberry/cherry grits pack with corn puffs on the hook fished on all 3 rods. Apparently the euro setup was in the honey hole, 4 carp were caught off of that rod, with 1 carp caught on a paylake setup. Had some unseasonably cool weather roll through overnight before this session, seemed like that slowed the bite down a little. Captured all the runs and carp on video, unfortunately the euro setup was off camera so only the alarm sound was recorded on those runs.
