Finally got the chance to get out and enjoy some nice weather and try to put my first carp of the year in the net. Started at 8am, temps were mid 30's, fished until ~2pm with temps pushing 70°. Light winds, sunny, it was truly a beautiful day. Bait of the day was panko/birdseed packed around a plain or molasses dipped puff.
Ended up with 2 carp and 2 channel cats.

Nothing was weighed or measured, I was more than happy with a picture perfect day with some fish on the mat. It definitely got the blood pumping again after a long, cold winter. If any Kansas people want to get together, let me know!

Haha! The very first hookset I was like "Holy Chit!" I thought he broke everything and because of his outfit I really thought is was a joke. Seeing the scale he pulled off and the second hookset when all hell broke loose quickly changed my mind. Insane!

Went out 8/21 (my b-day) for some carp fishing. Was at a swim that I haven't fished in a couple months. Fished from around 7:30am till 1:30pm, it was hot but luckily there are some shade trees close by.
Most of the carp were in the range of the first two pics.
Highlight of the day was this bruiser. Caught around 12:30-1:00pm in the heat of the day. Nice one tone run, with lots of give and take during the fight.
All fish caught on strawberry oat pack with either a puffed corn or corn pop pickup.
All in all, not a bad birthday!

Went out the morning of July 12th with lines in the water at 6am. Bait of the day was Red Peach oats with mello-fruity pickups.

Funny thing with the catfish was they were barfing up packbait all the way to the net!
And the trophy of the day
Did not get a weight on this one, it was hellbent on killing itself and slapping the crap out of me. Hard enough to get this pic, and these big grassies are as fragile as they come. After a few minutes of water resuscitation it gave me one last slap before bolting off!
Ended up with 5 Commons, 5 or 6 fat cats and the big grassie. I"ll take it!

I am off work today, so decided to go out and do some fishing. Kind of windy, but bearable. Even had a brief surprise rain shower! All carp caught today were full of fight, a couple even got some good air during the battle! Haha! Nothing of great size, but of course the biggest fish was hooked after I started packing up so I had to just get a picture of it in the net

No work on Friday means a trip to the lake for me. Was a little worried since we had a week of rain and much cooler weather leading up to today that it would have slowed things down. And for the most part it did. Today was beautiful though with sunny skies and temps up to 70°. Only banked two carp but they were nice sized.
This was a fat bellied mama
This one was solid muscle that went on a long, slow first run that peeled off a lot of line. Thought it was probably a big grass carp at first.
Both were caught after noon. A day with no work, nice weather, time at the water with a couple carp. I'll take it!
