  1. how has the hunt gone. I live in Burke and am having the same issue. I have not been successful at burke lake but I think I will try Occoquan reservoir though thanks Lukenichols. I have mostly fished the Potomac by the airport and have done well there but would like to expand my locations.

If anyone would like company fishing then please reach out, would like a chance to meet fellow carpies.

    Welcome to CAG,

  2. I remember an article about catfishermen using soybeans to chum with. I wonder how they would work for carp? Has anyone ever used them?

like Dunkel said ..i use soybean meal for method mix works well & soybean liquid is very effective with corn, boilies etc ....

Before you go fishing crush handful of Boilies Grab a can of coconut milk add some Betalin make kind of paste mould around your lead & fish hope you catch carp! Betalin is an amazing & very effective liquid .... i do have same problem as you lots of catfish .... & catfish do like to eat Boilies coz it's full with attraction just stay away from Fish Meal Boilies if lots of catfish around your swim, i did caught few carp using puffs last year the same way you mentioned in your post the only difference was i was using cc moore superspice essential oil, that is one extremely effective oil for puffs i did try puffs with cc moore Northern Specials Booster Liquid and unflavored but superspice & puffs works great IMO! but i use puffs very some time, to be honest just dont like to fish with puffs !

  4. It's really great idea to buy some Pre-Tied Rigs before you start making yours coz it may helps you understand Rig Mechanics when you have few properly made rigs in front of you it gives you better idea & more confidence when you start, right length of hooklink, hair & size of the hook helps you make a great carp rig, I suggest to buy few Fox & Korda Pre-Tied Rigs from Big Carp Tackle or any other tackle shop Korda's Braid Wide Gape 6 Ready Rig is one of the best carp rig for bottom bait & popups/cornrig

It's good to buy few meters of Big Carp Tackle Hooklink Sampler & a pack of Kaptor Wide Gape hooks for start (1M hooklink = 3 rigs)

    Happy fishing !

  5. I suggest not bothering with the apple flavored deer corn.

Boiling the corn helps to release it's natural sugars, and if you want a flavoring, add it to the boil as you're turning off the fire, and as it cools it will absorb the flavoring.

Just soaking is fine, but won't release the natural corn sugars like boiling will.

    A+
