Great job guys! As if 30 pounders aren't hard enough to catch, geez....55 pounders! Unreal!!
-
Good Luck to all! This might be the most challenging year yet.
-
That's pretty cool! From the Goldfish bowl to your swim!
-
Congratulations to all the winners! Also, a huge thanks to Willem and mcwrestler for doing all the hard work!

Great catch, Boo, near peg 1 at Bum Park! Congratulations on the new PB! --Frank
That's why I hang around Joliet for the Big 4. There's no way I can compete with some of you boys and your 30-40 pounders, but Joliet offers a convenient venue, a relatively short drive, and, usually, a pretty good bite. As Boo demonstrated, you can also catch some mid-teens to 20+ pounders every now and then. Here's a 21-7 captured this morning in the rain at the Jackson St. swim:
p.s. Go, Sox. Hammer the Cubs! Go, Hawks! Hammer the Redwings!
Great job on the fish! Very cool to see a young man learning how to carp fish the correct way! And like Frank said....GO SOX!!!! Go HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,
I just sent my pics in to Willem. I had a great time competing this year! I figured there was no use waiting till the last minute to post pics, when I've been posting on TOKS the whole month. Once again a huge congrats to Tom Bieback on his 48 pounder, what a hawg! Not to mention all the other beautiful fish from the other anglers! I honestly feel that the winning weight will be around 150 pounds. That's one hell of a nice bunch of carp! I'm sure we'll see a surge from Robert Duprey, he always seems to come up with a few 40 pound plus fish. You can never count out Mario....especially if a long awaited return to the "monster pond" takes place! There are many others I expect to see right at the top as well! So Good Luck to all the participating anglers! As the two time defending champ, this is not my concession speech!LOL!! We've got about 10 days left.....Give it hell boys! You KNOW I will!
Good Luck and be safe!
Steve

No kidding, that's an amazing fish. 2 40lb mirrors in less than 8 days of contest.
Tom, I think you locked down biggest mirror! Then again I thought I did as well so maybe we ought to watch out for the 50!
Just wishing mcwrestler and Tom Bieback a huge congratulations on two beautiful Mirrors! Way to go guys!!

Good Luck everyone! Let's hope for another great spring season!

Very nice! It's always nice to see how different people make bait. Sometimes the smallest detail can make all the difference!

A true loss of a great person! We had some good times and great laughs! Rest in Peace Buddy!

Great work Mario! Very nice!

Great Pic's!! Looks like a lot of fun!

Congratulations! That's a great accomplishment 4 sure! It's really tough to get them this time of year without some kind of warm water source! I know I've blanked my fair share trying!

That's a beautiful fish! Congrats!

Very cool project to do on a cold winter day! Thanks for sharing!

I've never seen someone so happy to get maggots! Last summer I missed garbage day after putting some fish parts in the trash. After a week, I was the proud owner of a maggot farm. In fact, I would of paid you $30 to come take them away!LOL!! I hope they work for you!

Over the years, I've seen several "accidental" carp caught on tube jigs and waxworms. This has been during the winter and early spring months while fishing for steelhead and coho. I'm guessing carp find the same attractive quailites in waxworms as the trout do. I'm sure maggots would be the same story.

Congratulations to all who fished!! Also a huge THANK YOU to Jerome!!

When targeting big carp, I wouldn't get too caught up in the bigger bait equals bigger fish. I'm just speaking from my personal experience. I constantly experiment with bait size, color, flavor and presentation. If you fish enough in areas where big fish frequent, eventually most rigs, colors and flavors will snare the big ones. The bottom line is, giant fish are just few and far between. I would certainly keep fishing in and around the area you got your 32lber. I would increase your baiting campaign and also some modifications to your hair rig. Increasing the length of the hair and making sure your hooks are SUPER sharp. Keep trying different locations and you'll hopefully find your big fish honey hole!

Beautiful fish Pawel!!! I like the black and white photos!

I think it's great that it's going for 2 months! However, I do concur with Iain that some "carp related divorces" are certainly something to look out for!
