  1. I have a matt that looks very similar you will get grief from some because it is not the hIgh dollar thick unhooking matt but seems to work for me and I have had several recaptures and the fish are healthy. I fish on rocks and have knelt on the matt without hurting my knees so gotta be better then unhooking on Grass or rocks. I keep mine right at the waters edge and splash its with water to make sure its cool and wet before laying the fish on it.

  2. cool I will do the prep work just need a couple days notice I am available during the week after 8 am until the Kids get out of School then earlier except Tuesdays Thats the day we go to lake Pleasant to fish. it is not uncommon for us to land 20 Grassers each along with a few commons and the occasional Catfish My son has the largest with that 20lbs fish I was close but came up a few pounds shy of my sons did hook into one that appeared larger had a dang hook pull right as he entered the net.

You are welcome to Join us on a Tuesday at lake pleasant if you ever get the urge as well good group of guys

  3. If that Cabelas carried a few carp nets and weigh slings it might help some towards promoting c+r. The big rubber walleye nets are safe enough but few people who don‘t own boats have them. A lot of the haters cite carp harming native fish populations by rooting through spawning areas and muddying water, etc, but in many cases it just isn‘t so. They seem to be doing ok where I fish and the native species are booming in the same lakes. If they were known as good table fare to everyone and not just

I agree if we can get the first items in then we are really hoping to get unhoooking mats and weigh slings next and possibly a couple predator or Daiwa rods in probably the black Widow. The unhooking mats and weigh slings can be used for all fish and would be a win for all shore anglers. So we see those as the next items that we could really push because of benifit to all species. the net we see as a big hurdle because in reality this nets are ment for shore anglers only and can be a pain in the Arse to assemble and disassemble and he is afraid that type of net would cause complaints from the average angler so we are hoping to find a replacement net for Cabelas brand nets that is similiar in material to a carp net

  4. how is the pop up sweet corn anything other than yellow rubber shaped as sweet corn? I find it over sized in most cases requiring some trimming....... nothing that cant be replaced by small foam balls bought at any craft store....no offense - I would push bait runners and go from there. They arent going to take carp fishing seriously by providing your needs alone to save you shipping costs..... show the masses how fun carping can be through screeming takes...... the terminal tackle will follow...but then again, if the terminal tackle leads to rods flying into the water, they will sell more rods and reels lol

    BCLT

They already carry several different Bait running reels. They do carry some rods that would be descent rods to get started and you can order the Predator rod and have it shipped to the store and have it in about five days. not sure where You are fishing but we do not have the problem of the enterprise Pop up corn being to large. I have spent alot of time with the guys running the fishing department at my local Cabelas and the Pop up sweetcorn and the Hooks are going to be the Items that we have the best chance to get onto the store shelves because our Urban lakes are stocked with trout in the winter months and many guys would try the Pop up sweet corn for trout fishing so If we can prove the items will move then we can work towards getting other items on the shelf. Gotta start somewhere and you are not going to get a Carp fishing section in Cabelas overnight take baby steps.

We do Promote Catch and release carp fishing we have three new guys fishing with us already this year.

  5. I recently spoke with Manager at Cabelas about starting to carry some carp fishing items started with Hooks and some enterprise sweet corn gave him the hooks we are interested in Hopefully he can get it done would be nice to swing by Cabelas its 10 min from my house to pickup some pop up sweetcorn or hooks if I am short. I try to place orders with some of the other guys to save on shipping sucks to pay the shipping for 4 or 5 packs or pop up sweetcorn.

  6. Thank You for putting the effort in and getting things turned around and bringing the Magazine back. I know I was one of the guys that got a little upset about it, I had just joined and then the Magazine was gone but reading the forum and the great info available on here along with what appears to be a more positive Forum then at the time a initially joined is what made me renew my membership

  7. We catch Grass carp using enterprise pop up sweetcorn and same method we use for Commons if your able to prebait the area will really help use Maze for prebait I have found the Grassers seem to like the Fermented stuff here. I keep some soaking I have a batch been in the bucket for 7 months keep it covered with water no mold also keep a lid on it and lots of salt and that stuff will bring the Grass carp in. I make a new batch every time I start running low and add a little water from the old batch to the new batch seems to help the fermentation start faster
