  1. Cabelas has some long handled rubber nets not sure how you feel about them I was in need of a net and posted never came up with one so I just purchased a resistance tackle one seems solid could not beat it for the money has a metal spreader block hope that helps

  2. nice looking fish we have a spot here in AZ that had been closed for a few years finally opened it up went down and checked it out looked promising had plans to fish it the next Tuesday only to find out it was closed again after a couple weekends of being open I am assuming the same thing happened. People went down tearing up the area with offroad vehicles and shooting the cactus and signs up and leaving trash behind . So once again it is closed

  3. Thats one thing I miss about living in PA for almost six years before moving to AZ was Flyfishing for trout in the streams nothing like a native Brooke trout on a flyrod.

I ended up addicted to carp fishing because growing up in FL great fishing both fresh and salt then living in PA and the great trout streams Then you come to AZ people are insane if they catch a 5lbs Bass back in FL those guys would get annoying because if they were on your line the 10 + lbs fish could not be caught

  4. I would give it a shot if I did not have water here I was still exploring I would be heading up that way and most likely within the next two years will make a trip up to give it a try give those 5 lbs fish more time to grow hoping friday to take my son to a new lake here that holds commons. Koi, Grass carp I know. Mirror not sure about but its 10 min from my house.

My sons biggest carp to date is 20 lbs 4oz and it was caught in the canal system this picture shows the fish and more of the canal I have seen some big grass carp even in the concrete sections of the canal

  5. Looks like she will make it though looks like it is healing glad you caught her and managed to cut the rest of it off.

Last year I caught one and someone had him on a stringer and he got lose it was one of those big rope ones like the size of clothes line for those that remember clothes line but I looked him over and he had a hole in his lower lip but it was already healed up nicely reminded me of those weird a$$ kids with the giant hole in the ear but he was feeding because he took two 20 mm boilies so I removed his jewlery and sent him on his way.

Hey if your offended by my comment about the hole in the ear I wish I could say sorry but I cant you will regrete that at 60 because our earlobes continue to grow all thru life so you will be walking around with your earlobe stuck in your pocket so it does not get caught on stuff :bonk:

  6. I have not personally seen the Tempe Canal but it is part of our Canal System which almost all are legal to fish if it is not legal to fish it will have a fence and say no trespass no fishing ect by fence I mean a fence all the canals have gates blocking the access road that is for employee use but most have a area to park next to the road and then walk in the only rules are You must move out of the road if a SRP truck comes thru. and Grass Carp must be treated with respect and released they are sterile working carp and are in the canals to keep vegitation down. the canal system hold Commons as well as all other sorts of fish I know of some people that fished the Canal in that area somewhere and caught some nice Mirrors after the Dam incident appears some of the fish are now in the canal. The area of Canal I fish is dirt but alot of it will be concrete but still very fishable because of little to no Current
