  1. If you go down to the main office I cant rember the exact name but its the equal to game and fish in other states have not been in PA in about 4 years now or call them they will mail you a really nice map showing the waterways in PA I beleive I paid a few dollars for shipping was not much I went down another time and got a couple of the maps for free and then took one to Staples or office depot and had it laminated then it held up I still have it if you cant get one P.M me if you want to pay shipping I can dig one out for you I am sure the waterways have not changed much in the last few years. I have some memory lose but I do remember two other lakes other then memorial in that area that held Carp I never carped fished while living in PA was more into Fly fishing for trout. The Map will really help you find the water.

  2. Sorry you misunderstood my original post. I have checked asked in person about prebaiting for Common Carp in the SRP canals and Was told it was legal. I also have the officers name he gave me a business I can not post the name here because it would not be right. He has been super helpful to me and I would not want to do anything that might cause him problems.

I have used Treble hooks in the past growing up been many years and I agree if someone knows how to use them and how to remove them properly you will not kill the fish. but most people like to put the bait on throw it out and leave it sit and allow the fish to swallow the treble hook they also use such a small hook buried inside the bait that the fish are able to swallow it very easily and then it gets lodged in the esophagus.

Spend some time at our Urban lakes, Urban lakes have a bag limit of between 2 and 4 trout depending on size of waterway and you would be amazed the amount of dead trout you see along the shore line the day after the lakes are stocked. Many of these guys are using small trebles buried inside some Salmon Peach power bait and many times it get swallowed the anglers will rip that hook out pulling half the trouts guts out with it and throw it back into the water because it is a small trout as long as they throw it back into the water it does not count on the bag limit.

So with what I see in person happening along the local waters My conclusion that these anglers using treble hooks are killing fish has grounds.

  3. Brid yea we will be fishing Lake pleasant in another week and a half the water is up to 90%. I will be fishing this spot on Monday possibly Friday as well since my son is out of School and it is his favorite spot at the moment he caught his biggest fish in this location but after that wont be fishing it much. Cant really convince people not to Kill the Carp here and it is not because they are bass fisherman and see it as harming the bass its more of who gives a crap its just a trash fish and we do not need them in our water way and if you ask well what will you do after they are gone same answer find a new place to fish maybe go to lake pleasant and kill some strippers they are ruinning the lake anyway

    :fight:

  4. You are allowed to fish in any part of the Canal system as long as it is not posted. You are allowed to catch and release the Grass Carp (White Amur) you just can not kill them or harvest them no matter what the size and must release them safely back into the water. You can be fined or face lose of fishing privileges if you intentionally harm the fish because they are put in the water ways as working carp to help maintain the Canal system the downside is I made a call about it and since it does not appear the fish were intentionally killed but killed more out of ignorance using a treble hook and allowing the fish to swallow the hooks. That is not illegal .

  5. Went fishing Monday morning was a little windy after about a hour the wind got really bad about 24 mph but since I was already setup decided to stick it out a while caught some fish nothing to brag about several grass carp 6 or 7 nothing over 9lbs, 1 common 3 or 4 lbs as I sat there trying to fish in the heavy wind sticking it out hoping it would stop soon knowing it would only get worse. Another gentleman came walking down to try his luck and sat down and started fishing 3 feet away from me lots of swims available why the heck so close to me. As I sat there kinda dumbfounded I checked out this Gentlemans rig two small treble hooks (I dislike treble hooks) and some premade walmart carp bait. Well to keep myself from being rude I decided to go ahead and pack up with the wind and this clown just was not worth it. well as I packed up he asked me if I had done any good I told him No the wind is just to much today did not want to encourage him and his treble hooks. He said yea me and my buddy killed them yesterday we caught 10 carp asked what kind he did not know after him explaining them to me came to the conclusion Grass carp. Then he said yea the last two sundays me and my buddy have been down her fishing and killing them this is the best spot I do not know why. I am thinking to myself I do I prebait this spot every Sat and Sun night for Monday and Tuesday fishing, Of course I did not tell him. on my way out 5 more people show up to this spot to fish all with similar stories they heard from SRP guys (Salt River Project that is who owns the canal system) that some guys had been fishing here and doing well that would be Me and crew.We have not divulged our location to anyone hell I do not know anyone here except for the guys I fish with. Well today I stopped by the fishing spot to see how it looked because my son does not have School on Friday and seen a horrible sight 5 dead grass carp the two along the bank had the esophagus hanging out of their mouth from the Dang treble hooks. not much I can do to stop them from fishing and killing the fish but I will not encourage it with any more prebaiting. maybe just prebait my swim early a few hours before I will arrive to fish the spot is only 5 minutes from my house really hope they do not catch that large fish my son caught and kill him as well.

  6. Thank you everyone was amazing to watch him bring that fish in. I was afraid a couple of times the rod and my son would be in the water. He is ready to go fishing again I was getting worried he was going to lose interest being 8 his attention span is short but that fish along with the rest really has him enjoying fishing Thanks to Carl for showing My Son and Myself the sport of Carp fishing.

  7. Great looking Grass carp in your avatar Cant wait to catch one that size, Caught 10 yesterday with the largest about 15 lbs and 1 Common about 4 lbs.. Caught 13 today nothing over 27 inches tried to catch another so I did not leave on that Number but had to get my son from School also caught 2 common. I am sure if I keep trying I can find a monster like that. Just my first month Carp fishing
